If the Arrowverse ever decided to do a spinoff series focused on XS and Impulse, The Flash star Jessica Parker Kennedy would be down for it. One of the longest-running Arrowverse shows currently on The CW is The Flash, which began its run in 2014. Now in its eighth season, The Flash just returned from its extensive hiatus following its big Armageddon 5-part event that took place in the fall. Its midseason premiere served as a time-travel adventure with Nora and Bart West-Allen traveling to December 2013 in order to fix the timeline.

As The Flash season 8 has more than a dozen episodes left to air, the show's in an intriguing position at the moment as it has yet to be renewed for a ninth season. In previous years, The CW has handed out early renewals to most of its dramas, including the Arrowverse shows. 2022 is turning out to be a different story due to WarnerMedia and Paramount, the network's owners, looking to sell The CW. DC shows like Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow, which have finished their latest seasons, have yet to learn if they'll be back for the 2022-2023 TV season. As of January 2022, The Flash star Grant Gustin was finalizing a deal to return for a potential ninth season, although it's unclear if it would be its final one.

While The Flash season 9 is considered to be a lock per multiple reports, could a spinoff be in the cards? In a new interview with Flash TV News, Kennedy, who portrays Barry Allen and Iris West-Allen's future daughter Nora, was asked whether or not she'd be up for a spinoff series focused on XS and Impulse. While nothing is officially in the works, Kennedy would be onboard for a potential offshoot, noting that the critical reception for her character and Jordan Fisher's Bart Allen has been heard. Here's what she had to say about doing an XS/Impulse spinoff:

"I think with anything in terms of my career, if it was the right time and the right story, I would say yes to anything that made sense for me to deal with; if all of the elements happened perfectly at the same time. It’s certainly a neat idea. I think there’s definitely an audience for that; we’ve had some really good feedback with with Nora and Bart together. So it would depend on a whole bunch of factors. But I’m open to to most things, if it sounded fun and it made sense."

The Arrowverse is widely known for launching spinoffs, especially for recurring characters with many positive fan responses, with Legends of Tomorrow as a prime example. Even though The Flash season 9 is expected to be part of the Arrowverse 2022 renewals, it's worth noting that it could potentially be the DC drama's final one. While a tenth season isn't impossible, The Flash is much closer to its finish line than to the beginning, and at some point, it'll come to an end. The most important thing for The Flash, more than anything, is probably to get to go out on its own terms, which is what a ninth season could do.

Given The Flash's massive popularity on The CW, it seems highly likely that the network would want to have something in its place that still draws upon the Barry Allen-centric drama. While Green Arrow and The Canaries got canceled due to COVID, an XS/Impulse spinoff could give the Arrowverse another shot at doing a series centered in the future. After Crisis on Infinite Earths soft-rebooted the Arrowverse, there's a lot that is unknown about Earth-Prime's history in the future, which a Flash offshoot could focus on as a full-on show. Depending on what happens after The Flash season 8 (and possibly 9), perhaps The CW will consider an XS/Impulse spinoff show if the characters continue to receive positive reception in future episodes.
