The Flash will see the return of Wally West a.k.a Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale) after the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event is done. Lonsdale, who brought the iconic Flash character to life in the show's second season, hasn't had a big presence in the Arrowverse following the end of his temporary gig in Legends of Tomorrow season 3. While Wally returned for a guest spot in The Flash season 5 premiere, the speedster's recent status has only been addressed through brief mentions. Kid Flash was originally set to appear in two more episodes in the last season of The Flash, but for unknown reasons he didn't return.

At San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year, The Flash's showrunner Eric Wallace confirmed Kid Flash will return to the show this season. While details were limited, the showrunner/executive producer promised the event would be a fun return involving Barry (Grant Gustin) and Wally teaming up against one of "the greatest Flash villains ever." Despite fans' hopes that Kid Flash would take part in the ongoing Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover, Lonsdale revealed he'd be back for season 6, but not the crossover. With Crisis' looming conclusion on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, Wally's return has now finally been revealed.

Wallace revealed to TV Insider that Lonsdale will reprise his role in episode 14 of The Flash's season 6, which supposedly airs sometime in late-February. With plot information being mostly kept under wraps, Wallace stressed the Wally who is coming back has "grown," both as a person and as a speedster. He will be joining Team Flash in tackling a familiar foe, said to be "one with a very new face." Given that this will be post-Crisis, Wally may be tackling the same situation as the rest of the characters in The Arrowverse.

Upcoming episodes of The Flash will see the arrival of two new DC characters into the show's catalog. After several hints within the last two seasons, Ralph Dibny's (Hartley Sawyer) iconic love-interest will be arriving with Natalie Dreyfuss playing Sue Dearbon, future wife of the Elongated Man. The Flash will also be introducing a gender-swapped version of the second Mirror Master with Efrat Dor as Eva McCulloch, who is planned to be a series regular. Once the crossover ends, the final season of Arrow will be taking the speedster's time slot for 2 more weeks before it officially concludes, and then The Flash will likely finally return in February.

The effects of Crisis on Infinite Earths have been described as a total game-changer for the ever-growing shared universe The CW has created for their DC characters. With the promise of a "fresher, more exciting direction," for Wally, Kid Flash's role in the Arrowverse going forward, and the state of the Arrowverse itself, is currently unknown. Given Wallace's comment back in the summer about his appearance being for a "few episodes," fans should expect Kid Flash to stick around after his initial re-introduction, at least for a little while. However, just how long Wally will stay around this time is something The Flash fans will just have to wait to find out.
