The CW has released the first official trailer for The Flash season 9, with the footage showing the rise of new and returning villains for the final season. The fastest man alive is less than two months away from starting his final adventure as the network gets ready to finish Barry Allen's almost-decade-long journey. The Flash's final season will be the show's shortest one yet and will only consist of 13 episodes while still holding the title as the longest-running Arrowverse series on The CW. With The Flash coming to an end, it will be the last series set on Earth-Prime from the Arrowverse, with Superman & Lois taking place on a different Earth.

As 2022 nears its end, Entertainment Weekly (via TV Promos) has the first look at The Flash season 9, which is set to premiere on Wednesday, February 8, 2023. The footage shows Grant Gustin's Scarlet Speedster preparing himself for the return of old villains as well as the rise of new ones. The trailer also offers up a few new mysteries about the final season of the popular Arrowverse drama. Check out the trailer below:

What We See In The Flash Season 9 Trailer

While it is only a 30-second teaser, the first look at The Flash season 9 does reveal many crucial details about the final season. With The CW having already confirmed that the final season will take place only a week after The Flash season 8, the action will be set relatively close to their war against Negative Reverse-Flash. As promised, Barry and his wife Iris West-Allen are growing closer as a married couple, as they can be seen being intimate in several shots of the trailer. The footage also teases that Barry will turn to a mystery ally to help him save the world.

A huge centerpiece of The Flash season 9 trailer is the many villains that can be spotted throughout the teaser. The footage reveals that Andy Mientus and Damion Poitier are both set to reprise the roles of Pied Piper and Goldface, respectively. There is also a quick shot of a new antagonist wearing a stitched-up mask, which may or may not be the post-Crisis version of The Flash foe Murmur, who appeared in Arrow for several episodes. The footage also sees the first look at Richard Harmon as Owen Mercer, a.k.a. the new Captain Boomerang. Even though her face is never seen, Caitlin Snow is briefly teased in her new form.

Another massive mystery from the footage is the hooded figure that is seen multiple times, who is most likely one of the first big bads in The Flash season 9. Given that red lightning can be seen a few times in The Flash season 9 trailer, it's very possible that this is the first look at Batwoman's Javicia Leslie as an alternative take on Red Death, as she was spotted on set in the infamous costume. Despite the fact that she never pops up in the trailer, Leslie will also be playing Batwoman again in The Flash's final season. With only a few months to go before The Flash season 9 premieres on The CW, it's definitely the end of an era for the Arrowverse.
