Kyle Gallner, who played Bart Allen/Impulse on Smallville, shares his interest in making a potential appearance on The Flash season 9. While the franchise is winding down, the Arrowverse, which is turning 10 years old this October, has been a major component of The CW's brand ever since Arrow began. Following the launch of the Green Arrow-centric drama, the Arrowverse birthed an interconnected universe based on beloved DC Comics characters. The first Arrow spinoff to get off the ground was The Flash, starring Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, a.k.a the Scarlet Speedster. However, before Arrow even existed, Smallville was The CW's superhero flagship drama back when there were barely any comic book adaptations on television. Starring Tom Welling as Clark Kent, Smallville followed the future Man of Steel's origin story for 10 seasons. Throughout its run, Clark learned more about his powers and Kryptonian heritage as he went through multiple trials before finally donning the red-and-blue suit. Smallville has often been sourced as the DC TV show that paved the way for the Arrowverse, including The Flash, to become possible. It even became semi-part of the franchise through Crisis on Infinite Earths in 2019 with Welling and Erica Durance (Lois Lane), appearing in the crossover. Gallner played Bart Allen on Smallville, taking on that show's version of the iconic speedster.RELATED: Why The Flash Is Ending After Season 9Now, it appears the former star of the Superman prequel is game to appear in the ongoing DC TV franchise. Gallner recently responded to a passionate fan who listed the actor's Impulse as someone they want to see in The Flash season 9. The 35-year-old actor responded to the user stating that it "could be fun" to reprise his version of Bart in The Flash. Check out his response below.

The last time Smallville saw Gallner's Impulse on screen was in the season 8 finale, "Doomsday." However, the season 11 tie-in comic actually saw Bart killed off. The Flash, which has utilized pretty much all of the iconic speedsters from the comics, introduced the Arrowverse's Impulse in season 7, with Jordan Fisher portraying Bart West-Allen, Barry and Iris' future son. Since Crisis on Infinite Earths ignored that Welling's Superman had already gone through Crisis on his Earth in season 11, The Flash season 9 could easily retcon the death of Gallner's Impulse. If anything, perhaps in the post-Crisis version of the Smallville universe, Bart never died at all.

If Gallner is open to reprising Impulse in The Flash season 9, it would be another fun legacy casting for the Arrowverse. His cameo would be similar to how John Wesley Shipp, who has played Henry Allen and Jay Garrick on the show, got to bring back his Barry Allen from The Flash TV show in the 1990s. With The Flash season 9 confirmed to be the show's final installment, this would be the only opportunity for Smallville's Gallner to crossover from his world over to Earth-Prime, especially if his Impulse gets to share the screen with Fisher's iteration of the character.
