As the Arrowverse prepares to conclude, Arrow actor Stephen Amell addresses a potential The Flash season 9 appearance. Production is currently underway for The Flash's final season, and is set to conclude in March 2023. A spin-off of Arrow, The Flash debuted on the CW in 2014 and stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, a forensic scientist who develops superspeed and uses it to fight other superhumans who use their power for evil. First appearing as Barry in Arrow's 2013 season 2, episode 8, "The Scientist.", alongside Amell as Oliver Queen's The Green Arrow, the duo also worked together in various crossover events including Flash vs. Arrow, with Arrow officially concluding in 2020 after eight seasons.

In an Instagram Live, Stephen Amell addresses a potential The Flash season 9 appearance, per Bleeding Cool. While he says he has yet to be invited back to the franchise, the Arrow actor seems more than willing and ready to have a final on-screen moment in the Arrowverse. Check out what Amell has to say about a Flash season 9 appearance below:

People ask me if I'm going to come back for 'The Flash' final season. I guess you're just going to have to watch. Haven't been asked, but, you know, that'd be fun.

How Stephen Amell's Arrow Could Appear In The Flash Season 9

The Flash Arrow Return

Stephen Amell's return as the Green Arrow could work, despite Oliver Queen's death in Crisis On Infinite Earths, the crossover event that served as a series finale to Arrow. Amell has been vocal about his desire to return to the role, saying he would if he “could be of service to the Arrowverse in any way", then tweeting on the show's 10th anniversary, wondering, "if the suit still fits". Amell's latest comments seem to echo his genuine interest in returning to the Arrowverse. Although Oliver Queen makes the ultimate sacrifice in Crisis On Infinite Earths, dying in order to save humanity, it is possible to re-work his fate.

Amell could return as Oliver Queen in a multitude of ways, considering his powers came from the Spectre, which he combined with the Book of Destiny, giving up his own life in return for the multiverse's survival. In what appeared to be an alternate dimension, Arrow's final moments reunited him with Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards), meaning he is not necessarily gone for good. As Spectre is one of DC Comics' most powerful entities, his death could be explained as his soul being lost, considering he appears to be somewhere with Felicity.

As the Arrowverse began with Arrow, it would make for a meaningful and satisfying conclusion to also end with Amell himself returning to the fold for one final time. It's clear the star is on-board with the idea, previously suggesting an entire limited series dedicated to Oliver Queen and the characters of Arrow as a potential revival. While that would look quite different from an appearance in The Flash, it's a sign that if he was to return, Amell would prefer a more self-contained, focused storyline. Given the endless opportunities to come back for one final mission in The Flash season 9, and with filming a long way off from being finished, a final Arrow crossover could still be an exciting possibility.
