Robbie Amell, who is returning to The Flash season 8 as Ronnie Raymond, teases his latest Firestorm reemergence. The latest ongoing season of The Flash is becoming a blast to the past as multiple familiar faces are returning to the Arrowverse drama. Rick Cosnett, who portrayed Eddie Thawne in the first season, has already made a guest appearance this year through a flashback episode but is also set to recur for at least three more episodes. Whether or not he's back as Eddie remains to be seen, with reports claiming that Cosnett will be "embodying" other characters.

The back half of The Flash season 8 will also see Amell pop up for a few episodes, and much like Cosnett, the show is keeping plot details under wrap. Amell, the cousin to Arrow's Stephen Amell, was introduced back in the first season as the fiance to Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) before the particle accelerator explosion introduced him to Dr. Martin Stein (Victor Garber,) thus turning them into Firestorm. While Ronnie and Caitlin got married in the season 1 finale, the marriage quickly came to an end as Amell's character died in The Flash season 2 premiere. However, that hasn't stopped the actor from making various guest spots as different versions of Ronnie.

While Amell's Firestorm will be present for two episodes of The Flash season 8,  starting with the eleventh episode, what exactly brings Ronnie back into the picture? In TVLine's latest Inside Line column, a fan asked if Ronnie's return would have anything to do with Caitlin having recently started dating again. As the outlet interviewed Amell recently, the Canadian actor talked about showing up on The Flash again, teasing that most of his scenes are with Panabaker and Grant Gustin's Barry Allen. Here's what Amell had to say about his latest visit to the long-running CW drama:

“It was really nice to be back [on The Flash]. Most of my stuff is with Danielle [Panabaker], and it was great to see her. We both have kids now, so it was really great to just catch up. And obviously, I have some stuff with Grant [Gustin]…. It was really great to get to go back and kind of do something fun, which you’ll see.”

The Flash Martin Stein Weds Caitlin Snow and Ronnie Raymond

Despite not giving away anything about how Firestorm factors into the story, there are a number of ways The Flash could be tackling Amell's multi-episode arc. One of the most popular theories is that The Flash season 8 will officially resurrect Ronnie from the dead. As Caitlin just began dating Marcus shortly after Amell's return had been announced, many believe that their dynamic won't last for long due to a potential reunion with her husband. Another possibility is that Ronnie will somehow be back as a spirit/ghost since The Flash season 8 is said to deal with a supernatural threat in the back half of the season.

Even though the horror route is likely what's happening, it wouldn't actually be a massive stretch if The Flash season 8 revived Ronnie. An unresolved plot point about Ronnie's death is that viewers never saw a body during the season 2 premiere. In most cases, when there isn't a body, it means a character may not necessarily be decreased, which could be what the Arrowverse show is finally tackling. Since The Flash is probably a season or two away from ending, this could be a way to give Caitlin and Ronnie the happy ending they never got after getting married.
