A recent teaser for the return of The Flash season 8 in 2022 has revealed some potential problems that two guest stars will have to fix throughout the timeline. Ever since its premiere, the CW series has always liked to experiment with the concept of time travel, staying true to the DC Comics source material of the title character. Coming hot off the trail of the most recent crossover, Armageddon, the show is currently on hiatus until the new year, planning its return with episode 6 for March 9, 2022.

Starring Grant Gustin as the titular meta-human superhero, the series has been airing on The CW since October 2014 as a spin-off of Arrow. Joining Gustin is a star-studded supporting cast including Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Danielle Nicolet, Kayla Compton, Brandon McKnight, and Jesse L. Martin. Throughout the show's past seasons, time travel has always been a prevalent aspect, which had led The Flash to meet his future children, Bart and Nora West-Allen, who became recurring guest stars.

In the short promotional trailer from TV Promos for The Flash season 8, episode 6, Nora and Bart spotted many adverse effects throughout the timeline. The trailer also features key moments from the show's past, including the night Barry was hit by the lightning that turned him into the meta-human speedster we know today. Furthermore, one special guest star from past seasons appears, being Rick Cosnett as Detective Eddie Thawne from season one. Watch the full trailer below:

As previously mentioned, this mixup of events within the show's timeline is not the first confusing time travel element to be introduced in the show's run. During the show's third season, Barry dealt with the changes he caused by running back in time and stopping his own mother's murder, completely shifting events and creating an entirely new reality nicknamed "Flashpoint."  Armageddon was also a crossover event that strongly relied on these themes, featuring the Reverse-Flash changing the timeline and essentially creating a "Reverse Flashpoint" that turned him into The Flash and Barry Allen into Reverse Flash.

From the story points shown in the trailer, it is clear that the confusing time travel elements of the show's past will continue to prosper in future storylines and episodes. Furthermore, with the inclusion of critical moments from previous seasons and Eddie Thawne, it is clear The Flash season 8 will pay tribute to past storylines and characters that may have previously been written off. Either way, audiences will have to wait in anticipation for The Flash to return on March 9, 2022.
