WARNING: This article includes spoilers for The Flash season 8, episodes 12 & 13

The Flash season 8 will see a major character fall in episode 13 next week, according to Deathstorm actor Robbie Amell. Since the inception of the Arrowverse in 2012 through Arrow, The CW has managed to bring multiple DC heroes and villains from panel to screen. As the franchise is turning almost a decade old as of this October, viewers of the Arrowverse have gotten used to seeing long-time characters come and go. Sometimes these depatures leave the door open for past cast members to return down the line. In other cases, a character has sadly been killed off, whether it be a series regular or a recurring guest star.

Since The Flash season 8 resumed in March 2022, the DC drama has been focused on its latest Big Bad, who is becoming one of its deadliest ones yet. While taking a few creative liberties, The Flash is currently tackling the DC villain Deathstorm, which is how Amell returned to the show in a major twist. Though Amell did return to The Flash as Ronnie Raymond (a.k.a. Firestorm) through new flashbacks, it turned out not to be the fallen hero but rather a new take on Deathstorm. Given the villain's name, it shouldn't come as a shock that death is coming Team Flash's way.

As The Flash season 8 is getting close to wrapping up the Deathstorm storyline, viewers will apparently need to prepare for next week's episode. In a new interview with TVLine, the outlet spoke with Amell recently about what Deathstorm's presence will to do Team Flash. The outlet officially confirmed that the upcoming episode 13, titled "Death Falls," will see a tragic loss of a major character at the hands of Deathstorm. Amell then stated the following:

"It’s really fun to be the bad guy and put Team Flash through a bit of a wringer. And it was really cool to get to [do what Deathstorm does in Episode 13] It was kind of a big bonus for me, in getting to come back!

The conclusion of this week's The Flash episode 12, titled "Death Rises," saw Deathstorm's killing spree increase, including going after Caitlin. "Death Falls," directed by Chris Peppe, with story by Sam Chalsen, and teleplay by Joshua V. Gilbert, teases that Team Flash is under attack. Not only do they have to fight to keep themselves alive, but each other as well. This will be what sets up The Flash episode 14, titled "Funeral for a Friend," which airs on May 11. Both of these episode titles, as well as the above storyline confirmation, show that the next two weeks are likely to see intense and emotional scenes on The Flash.

The big question now, of course, is who will die in The Flash episode 13? Given how much focus the series has placed on the Deathstorm saga, it would make sense for one of the principal characters to be the one that Team Flash bids farewell to. The only confirmed departure this season is Jesse L. Martin, who is stepping down from The Flash as a series regular after eight years. However, it was already confirmed that Martin is expected to return in several episodes of The Flash season 9, so the death is highly unlikely to be Joe West's. Viewers will simply have to tune in next week to see who Deathstorm ends up taking out on The Flash.
