The season finale of The Flash may be coming sooner than expected, but it won't come without one of the biggest battles in the six season history of the show. There have been plenty of major clashes over the course of the superhero show, including the Arrowverse crossovers that have grown greater and grander every year. Ending the current season on a disappointing note felt like a distinct possibility due to the filming shutdown, so the knowledge that a big battle is on the horizon should be exciting for fans of the show.

The coronavirus pandemic has wreaked havoc through the entertainment industry, and The Flash has been no exception, shutting down production on March 13, just a few weeks before filming on season 6 was expected to conclude. While shows such as Supernatural have chosen to wait out the worst of the pandemic to finish their current seasons, the same decision wasn't made for The Flash, which is ending with its 19th episode of the season, rather than the 22 that were ordered. That meant the crew wouldn't be finishing the show on the note it was building towards.

Still, showrunner Eric Wallace is generating excitement for the season finale. In an interview with CBR, Wallace - who took over as showrunner for the current season - stated the episode will contain "one of the biggest battles we've ever filmed." This is because the second half of the season was plotted out in a series of acts. Act two of the latter half of the season was always going to end with episode 6.19, the part of a story where things usually look most bleak for the heroes. See Wallace's full comments below:

I think people will appreciate also, one of the biggest episodes of the season just coincidentally was always planned to be Episode 6.19. So, one of the biggest episodes with one of the biggest battles we've ever filmed in the six-season history of The Flash, now is on display in our new season finale. It's kind of exciting amidst all this tragedy.

The Flash Efrat Dor Mirror Master Eva McCulloch

There's still an episode to come before the season finale, but information is already emerging about how The Flash will be ending its sixth season. For starters, fans know a familiar villain will be returning (and can imagine they will play a part in the big battle ahead). There was also news from star Grant Gustin about how the season was supposed to end, although it probably won't come to pass at this point.

A lot is up in the air about this season of the show, both on and off the screen. In the most recent episode, Eva threatened to "liberate" the world, so she's one of many who are likely to play a massive part in the season finale. Thanks to Eric Wallace, the season finale of The Flash is still something worth looking forward to, in less than two weeks no less.
