The Flash showrunner would like to see supervillains Gorilla Grodd and King Shark team-up in season 5. The CW series concluded its fourth season recently, ending on yet another cliffhanger - most notably Barry Allen's daughter, Nora, coming from the future - that has fans talking.

Cicada is the new villain in The Flash season 5, and it will most likely take Team Flash the entire season to defeat him, but that doesn't mean they won't have other bad guys to defeat. After all, Central City tends to have its fair share of villains spring up throughout the year. In past seasons, two of those villains have been Gorilla Grodd - a gorilla that was formerly used as a test-subject - and King Shark, a human with the features of a shark. Perhaps The Flash producers will get the two to team-up in the near future.

The Flash showrunner Todd Helbing said during the show's panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2018 that the creative team is looking into having Gorilla Grodd and King Shark team-up sometime in season 5 (via ComicBook), most likely in the second half of the season, seeing as the first half is already in production. He said: "We're going to really try to get King Shark and Grodd [teaming up], probably in the second half." Unfortunately, Helbing didn't go into detail regarding what audiences could expect from a potential team-up.

The Flash season 2 - Gorilla Grodd

Gorilla Grodd and King Shark have been recurring characters on The Flash ever since the TV series debuted, and they've always been cornerstone villains that Flash keeps running into every now and then. What's more, their existences remind viewers that The Flash is a superhero show that can truly dive into its comic book roots at times, allowing for a fun episode here and there.

Season 5 of The Flash is set to focus on the arrival of Nora Allen – Barry’s daughter from the future, as previously mentioned – and the family has to attempt to solve the "mistake" that brought her to Central City. It’s now assumed that audiences will be seeing a run-in with King Shark and Grodd while they try to do so, but that might happen in one of the filler episodes in the back half of the season when the show returns next year after its midseason hiatus this coming holiday season.
