A new photo has revealed the new costume worn by Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) in The Flash season 4. In the season 3 finale, Barry went head-to-head with one of the Arrowverse's greatest threats, Savitar - and despite winning the ultimate battle with the God of Speed, Barry had to leave his friends and family behind and enter the Speed Force, thus leaving Central City undefended. Well, sort of; Wally West was left to protect the city along with the rest of Team Flash just like they had in Flashpoint, earlier that season.
Of course, it's no secret that Barry will somehow exit the Speed Force and rejoin Team Flash early on in season 4. Still, that doesn't mean he will come back as the same person as when he left. The Speed Force will have had an effect on him and he may not be the same Flash that the team and the rest of the city remember. So, it's only fair that Barry suit up in a new costume to reflect that change. Barry has had multiple costume redesigns ever since the series launched in 2014 and this year will be no different.
Ahead of The Flash's season 4 premiere next month, an image showing off Barry Allen's new superhero costume has surfaced on Instagram. The suit appears to be real and was apparently taken by someone visiting the series' set earlier this summer. Until The CW releases an official image, or until the series returns next month, this might be the best image of the new suit out there. Take a look:
The costume matches the same one that was revealed through paparazzi set photos earlier this summer, showing Gustin's Barry Allen wearing the new costume. The set photos only showcased the upper half of the body, revealing more leather accents throughout the torso. That falls in-line with the new photo above. Unlike those set photos, though, the new photo does indicate that the new costume will be lighter in color. However, it doesn't seem to be as bright as the Flash costume we saw when Barry traveled to the future last season.
The week prior to the set photos leaking, Gustin had teased the new costume by posting a photo online of him wearing the bottom half of the suit. As we can see in the photo above, the costume is the same. Aside from the brighter color tone, what stands out the most are the brighter golden accents. Overall, the suit is a closer depiction of the costume from the comics, and that's clearly the direction the producers are taking the series, little by little.
The Flash season 4 premieres Tuesday, October 10 at 8pm on The CW.
