While it's only a matter of time before Barry returns to The Flash in the upcoming fourth season, not all of his friends will agree on the best way to bring the hero back. Thanks to the events of season 3 of The Flash, Barry will begin the new season still trapped in the Speed Force. Meanwhile, his friends will be working hard to both bring him back and protect Central City.

Part of that fight will see the team take on The Thinker, a brilliant new rogue that will be causing all sorts of chaos. Barry's absence will see the rest of Team Flash step up to the plate, but things won't get easier when he returns. Barry will be dealing with the fallout from his time in the Speed Force. At the same time, his team may be struggling to keep things together.

EW spoke with Carlos Valdes about where the team will be at in season 4 of The Flash, and specifically what Cisco will be up to in order to bring back his best friend.

“I wish I could say that the team unanimously agrees that things are not the same when the season starts, but not everybody feels that way. Most of the energy on the team is toward getting Barry back, and Cisco may or may not have some things up his sleeve with regards with how to make that happen, but there is a member of the team that’s not on board, and that ultimately makes the mission to get Barry back a lot more difficult. But the thing about Cisco is if he wants to get his friends back, he will do whatever it takes the get his friends back — and that’s not just Barry.”

While Valdes' comments are cryptic, there's a couple of likely possibilities. The main one is that Caitlin will disagree given her new evil nature. Then again, it could be that Cisco's overzealousness in getting back Barry will lead him to make some questionable decisions. In that case, it could be any member of the time who tries to dissuade Cisco from meddling with forces too large for them. After all, that's what got Barry into this mess—and nearly every other one in the show's history—to begin with.

The other interesting thing about the quote is Valdes' mention of a friend besides Barry that he wants to get back. Again, this could be Caitlin. But another strong possibility, however, is that Cisco will try and bring back some version of H.R. Cisco has had a rocky relationship with each of the Harrison Wellses that have appeared on the show, but he's ultimately bonded with each one. Could Cisco's radical approach to bringing back Barry also enable H.R. to be revived?

We know the new season will be lighter than the last one and will focus on Barry forgiving himself. With that in mind, any potentially dark decisions probably won't last for long. Still, expect at least some drama when The Flash returns this fall.
