By now, fans of The CW's Arrow-verse are no doubt well-aware that The Flash season 2 set things up for the DC Comics-based TV series to explore its version of the Flashpoint comics narrative during season 3. Although the over-arching narrative of The Flash season 3 will involve much more than Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) residing in an alternate reality, the Flashpoint storyline has understandably served as the focal point for season 3's marketing campaign ahead of its premiere next month.
The official synopsis for 'Flashpoint', the aptly-tilted first episode of The Flash season 3, teases that everyone's favorite Speedster soon learns that there will be "serious repercussions" for himself and everyone he loves, should be continue to reside in the alternate reality that he created during the show's season 2 finale, 'The Race of His Life'. Naturally, a newly-released poster from The CW for The Flash season 3 keeps its cards close to the chest and avoids elaborating on that idea, beyond the obvious implications of its tagline: "New Destinies. New Dangers."

The Flash's producers have indicated that some things will never be the same on the show even after the Flashpoint situation is resolved, it sounds as though one thing will remain unchanged: Barry Allen isn't going to be running out of strange enemies to battle, anytime soon.
Season 3, for example, will pit Barry and his friends against a foe (rumored to be the Music Meister) whose arrival in Central City gives rise to a musical crossover with now-fellow DC TV series on The CW, Supergirl. It also appears as though Caitlin Snow's evil doppelgänger, Killer Frost, will show up soon too, in a Kevin Smith-directed Flash season 3 episode. There's also Magenta (Joey King), The Top (Ashley Rickards) and even old Captain Cold himself (Wentworth Miller) waiting in the wings, too.
This all does beg the question though: who will be serving as the main baddie in The Flash season 3 (a la Dr. Harrison Wells in season 1 and Zoom in season 2)? Things may differ in that respect on The Flash season 3, now that The CW is home to all four Arrow-verse TV shows (Arrow, The Flash, DC's Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl). With a multi-episode crossover planned between The CW's DC TV series during their upcoming seasons, said major threat(s) that Barry will be facing may not be restricted solely to his corner of the Arrow-verse.
The Flash season 3 will premiere Tuesday October 4 at 8pm on The CW, Arrow season 5 will premiere in the same timeslot on Wednesday October 5, Supergirl season 2 on Monday October 10, and Legends of Tomorrow season 2 on Thursday October 13.
