The Flash Season 2 Behind-the-Scenes Promo: It's Go Time

With only three days left until The Flash Season 2 premieres on the CW, there has been no shortage of buildup around its highly anticipated return. A spin-off from the CW tentpole Arrow, The Flash debuted to strong ratings and critical acclaim. The show centered around Barry Allen as he becomes the titular superhero, and quickly built up its own world, exploring complex concepts such as time travel, meta-human abilities, and multiple universes - all while paying attention to character growth and relationship developments.

It's a tough act to follow, but so far The Flash shows no sign of hitting the sophomore slump. We already know the series will be further exploring the concepts of Speed Force and time travel, and will introduce the multiverse and alternate timelines. Now we can get a behind-the-scenes look at some of the action coming with those heady developments.

The CW has released a new promo video that mixes new action clips with footage of the show being made. It highlights some of the dangers coming to Central City, as well as the show's easy humor. We can see Dr. Martin Stein's (Victor Garber) enthusiasm in S.T.A.R. labs, Joe firing off a very large gun, and quick flashes of Captain Cold a.k.a. Leonard Snart. The short teaser also shows Ronnie kissing Caityln, his transformation into Firestorm, and Barry using his wind powers.

The footage doesn't reveal anything that new, and we're already expecting Zoom, The Atom Smasher and Jay Garrick to appear shortly. However, it does emphasize that while The Flash will go through a number of changes, the aspects of the show that made it so popular to begin with will still be present when it returns - from the superpowered action sequences to the lighthearted tone. We still have to wait and see how the writers balance all of the new characters and multiple timelines, but as long as these key elements are maintained Season 2 should be as good - if not better - than the first.

Season 2 of The Flash premieres Tuesday, October 6 at 8pm/7 central; Season 4 of Arrow debuts Wednesday October 7 at 8pm/7 central; Legends of Tomorrow begins in 2016.
