The Flash ‘Once & Future Flash’ Trailer: Mirror Master & Top Return

The Flash Mirror Master Wormholes

When The Flash returns from its spring hiatus later this month, it's going to be with an episode that sends Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) into the future of 2024. He's heading forward in time (rather than backwards, for once) to try and discover Savitar's identity, so that he can stop the Speed God before he kills Iris (Candice Patton). It promises to be a huge episode, with the likelihood of a big villain reveal and some great moments back in 2017 as Team Flash attempts to corral Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) and get her back under control.

One teaser for the upcoming episode, 'The Once And Future Flash', has already been released, showing some of the changes wrought by Iris's death. These include a long-haired and miserable-looking Barry, Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) in a wheelchair, and Killer Frost still at large. Now, a new trailer also shows the return of two of the Flash's villains: Mirror Master and the Top.

The trailer (titled simply 'The Once and Future Flash Trailer') is 30 seconds long, and was released by The CW. It includes many of the same scenes as the earlier promo, but reveals one extra shot: The Mirror Master (Grey Damon) popping out of one of his mirrors to punch Barry while the Top (Ashley Rickards) looks on.

The Flash Season 3 The New Rogues Mirror Master The Top

This scene is slightly different to the one in the original teaser, which also shows Mirror Master. In the original, however, Mirror Master is not using his power, but is standing over Barry and kicking him while saying "you're in for a world of pain." It looks like these two are the "recurring villains" teased by EP Andrew Kreisberg teased earlier this month.

In the present timeline of The Flash, both Mirror Master and Top are incarcerated (thanks to Flash), so their return suggests that without the hero of Central City, metahumans are breaking out of prison and running amok. At the very least, these two have escaped and donned their costumes once more. Mirror Master's threat also seems to suggest that he (and Top) are out for revenge on the man who locked them up in the first place -- and they may not be the only villains that the Flash has to deal with in the future.

There's no news on how big of a role these two villains will play in the episode, however, and they could be anything from a major opponent to a brief cameo appearance. It's even possible that these two are working for Savitar, although this is purely speculation. All we know for sure is that a future version of these two Rogues are going to be battling Barry when the show returns.

The Flash returns with “The Once and Future Flash” on Tuesday, April 25 at 8pm on The CW.
