The Flash showrunner Todd Helbing says fans are wrong about the identity of the mysterious girl that keeps popping up on the show. Fans have speculated that the character, played by Jessica Parker Kennedy, may be the daughter of Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris (Candice Patton), who has come from the future to visit her parents.

During the Supergirl hour of "Crisis on Earth X", fans were introduced to a mysterious young woman who was working as a caterer at Barry and Iris' wedding. The character shared an unusual amount of enthusiasm when meeting the couple but never gave her name. The young woman noted that the wedding would be "one for the ages." Since then, she's appeared twice on The Flash, each in a scene where she has an awkward encounter with members of Team Flash.

In an interview with TV Guide, Todd Helbing said that fans have yet to solve the mystery surrounding the identity of Jessica Parker Kennedy's character. Helbing doubts that "anybody ever is going to guess exactly what it is." Helbing also compared the mystery to past storylines that fans have tried to figure out:

Every year there's theories all over the place about what we're doing and some of them get pretty close, some of them they hit like one part of it but they don't get other parts, so it's fun to read.

Helbing's comments appear to have shut down the most popular theories on the mystery girl. Based on her interactions with Barry and Iris, many fans felt that she could be the couple's daughter from the future. In the comics, Barry and Iris have a daughter named Dawn Allen, who inherited her father's super speed to become one half of the Tornado Twins alongside her brother, Don. Fans have also wondered if she could be the new female speedster that's been training with Jay Garrick to be the new Flash of Earth-3.

Another theory is that the mystery girl is Jenny Ognats, Dawn's daughter, which would make her Barry's granddaughter. Jenny is a speedster called XS and a member of the Legion of Super Heroes. A version of her costume will be worn by Iris when she gains Barry's speed in this week's episode.

We may learn more about the mystery girl in the coming weeks. So far, she has met the members of Team Flash in pairs. In two visits to Jitters, she has crossed paths with Ralph (Hartley Sawyer), Harry (Tom Cavanagh), Cisco (Carlos Valdes), and Caitlin (Danielle Pakabaker). All that's left for her to meet is Joe (Jesse L. Martin). Once her introductions to Team Flash have finished, it's possible that we'll finally get to learn more about her connection to Barry, Iris, and the rest of the team.
