Ezra Miller's The Flash standalone film might begin production this November. Following his brief introduction in Zack Snyder's Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and a part in the ensemble film Justice League, the Scarlett Speedster's solo adventure may finally be moving forward with a reported filming start scheduled later this year.
Originally set to hit theatrers last year, The Flash has gone through several setbacks, including multiple director changes with Seth Grahame-Smith and Rick Famuyiwa attached to direct at one point. It was last year, however, when it finally locked down Spider-Man: Homecoming writers and Game Night directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley to helm the project, and this time, it seems like Warner Bros. finally found a perfect fit with the duo. Despite the repeated delay, fans continue to be optimistic that the standalone film will eventually get made, especially considering how well-received Miller's portrayal of the character was in Justice League. And if this latest news regarding the project turns out to be true, fans could be finally inching their way to the movie.

The GWW is reporting that The Flash is eyeing to begin production this November, however, no additional information was provided regarding the specifics. Last year, the movie was believed to be filming in Vancouver, marking the return of a DC big screen project to the city after 2013's Man of Steel, but with no mention of that in the latest report, it's uncertain if that still holds true. Regardless, this should be enough to keep fans excited for the movie.
Last month, Miller's interview while promoting Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald surfaced where he addressed The Flash's continued delay. The actor confidently said that despite its setbacks, the wait for his solo superhero film will be worth all the wait. The project's principal photography was touted to begin early this year, but it was pushed back until late 2019 due to various reasons, meaning it won't be ready for release until around 2021. Looking at DC's slate on that year, they already have planted three releases: Matt Reeves' The Batman and the James Gunn-written reboot of the Suicide Squad, and DC Super Pets. This makes it a bit difficult to insert The Flash there, unless they reshuffle their current schedule.
If 2021 is not going to work, perhaps an early 2022 release date for The Flash is feasible. DC only has Aquaman 2 scheduled later that year, although its The Trench spinoff may also roll out by then. Assuming that it will be the case, the DCEU will be set until at least 2022 - and that doesn't even include all other projects that haven't nabbed a release date or are still in the early stages of development like Nightwing and Batgirl. No mention of an ensemble film as well, which means that Warner Bros. is really focusing on standalone projects at this point.
