While The Flash will be a similar multiversal epic to Marvel's Spider-Man: No Way Home, the upcoming DC movie from Warner Bros. will have much larger and far-reaching consequences. Mirroring the Flashpoint event from the original comics, Barry Allen will attempt to save his mother in the past, an act which inadvertently changes the entire timeline and leads to a collision of worlds within the DC multiverse. As such, the circumstances of The Flash will lead to a far more significant ending than No Way Home's.

It's already been confirmed that The Flash will feature two different Barry Allens as well as two different versions of Batman, one played by Ben Affleck and the other by Michael Keaton from the Batman movies directed by Tim Burton. As such, the comparisons to Spider-Man: No Way Home have already begun seeing how the MCU's Peter Parker joined forces with Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire's respective takes on the iconic Wallcrawler. However, the ramifications of The Flash and its ultimate conclusion will be far more significant.

The Flash Movie Will End Different From No Way Home

Spider-Man No Way Home Ending Spell Doctor Strange SR

In Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter Parker is helped by his fellow variants, his friends, and Doctor Strange to seal a rift in the multiverse threatening to plunge Earth-616 into an incursion that would have devastating consequences. Having inadvertently caused the rift after messing up Doctor Strange's spell to make the world forget Peter Parker was Spider-Man, a collection of previous Spider-Man villains from other universes came to Earth-616 which Peter redeems before sending them back to their own realities. However, Spider-Man successfully prevented the greater incursion through the personal sacrifice of making the entire world forget Peter Parker, including the loved ones he had left.

In comparison, The Flash's similar mistake will cause a complete collision of worlds which Barry will try to reverse with his new allies. Assuming The Flash follows the basic storyline of Flashpoint, Barry will also have to make a sacrifice by allowing his mother to die as she's meant to. However, the DC Universe isn't completely restored back to how it was. Instead, a rebooted universe was created, a core concept that's expected to come out of The Flash with a brand-new DC Universe. While Spider-Man's movie ended with his entire life being altered, The Flash will more than likely end with the entire universe having been changed.

The Flash Is About Resetting The DC Universe

Ezra Miller's Flash and DCU Hard Reboot

Both Spider-Man: No Way Home and The Flash have multiple variants of the same hero coming together while dealing with the consequences of the main hero's attempt to change their reality. However, The Flash's ending will be much different as it will reportedly create an entirely new universe and timeline, one that embraces the new DCU envisioned by new heads James Gunn and Peter Safran while closing the door on the original universe as it currently stands. As such, the ramifications of The Flash will be felt on a much grander scale in its wake as opposed to No Way Home which only affected the life of Spider-Man himself.
