Henry Cavill's Superman may have a cameo in The Flash, according to a hint from film producer Barbara Muschietti. After starring in Zack Snyder's Justice League, Ezra Miller will make his DCEU return in the standalone film about the Scarlet Speedster. Directed by Andy Muschietti, the movie is set for a November 2022 release date, and principal photography is currently in its final stretch.

Specific plot details for The Flash are still scant at the moment, and understandably so, considering that the film is still more than a year away from hitting theaters. However, there are few key details that have been previously publicized. For starters, the project will see the return of Kiersey Clemons as Iris West. West's character was initially cut from the Justice League theatrical version but was eventually introduced in the Snyder Cut. Meanwhile, Sasha Calle will debut as Supergirl/Kara Zor-El. Miller's fellow DCEU actor Ben Affleck will reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman, but the film will also see the return of Michael Keaton's Dark Knight from Tim Burton's 1989 Batman and 1992 Batman Returns films. However, if new speculation pans out, another major superhero may be set to appear in the blockbuster.

Barbara Muschietti recently took to Instagram (via FlashFilmNews) to offer an update regarding the status of The Flash's production. In the caption, she hypes up the DC FanDome event, which is happening this weekend, and teased fans about a surprise the team has prepared for viewers. In the comments section, a fan with the username @the_positive_fan expressed his hopes that Henry Cavill's Superman shows up in the film. To much  surprise, Muschietti liked the comment in a move that many interpreted as a confirmation of the concept. Check out a video breakdown of what happened below:

It's worth noting that there hasn't been any concrete indication that Cavill will indeed be in The Flash. The actor's return to the DCEU has been uncertain for a while now, with Warner Bros. still not green-lighting a Man of Steel 2 despite calls from fans. Aside from that, the studio is also in the process of introducing a brand new version of Superman from Cavill's, although chances are that this version will exist in a different reality, much like Todd Phillips' Joker and Matt Reeves' The Batman. Given this, fans would be better off waiting for an official confirmation before latching on to the possibility of Cavill's cameo in The Flash. That being said, in the event that Cavill's Last Son of Krypton does appear in the film, it would be significant in terms of his future as the character. Regardless of the extent of his involvement, it would mean that there is a clear future for the actor in the DCEU.

Aside from Muschietti's seeming teaser, fans should certainly be prepared for the inevitable release of new The Flash content at DC FanDome. Be it in the form of a poster or a trailer, any updates would still be exciting, especially with both Keaton and Affleck's versions of Batman involved. The Hollywood stars' features could be something that the project's marketing focuses on, since they have been a big talking point among audiences since their announcement. In the event that DC also confirms Cavill's Man of Steel will be in the project, not only would that be good news for Barry Allen, but it may also go a long way in setting up Supergirl's DCEU future.
