DC's upcoming The Flash movie will reportedly feature a cameo from Grant Gustin, star of the CW Arrowverse series of the same name. Directed by Andy Muschietti, the long-awaited Barry Allen solo movie is finally kicking into high gear after years of being stuck in development hell. Filming has finally began on The Flash, which is set to adapt the Flashpoint comics arc, breaking the DCEU's Multiverse wide open in the process.

The Flash is already set to feature some exciting supporting players - Sasha Calle will debut as the DCEU's Supergirl and Kiersey Clemons will be reprising her role of Iris West after appearing briefly in Zack Snyder's Justice League. Most notably, though, are the two Caped Crusaders set to appear. Both Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton will be showing up as their respective Batman's to help Barry Allen with the time travel mess he makes. It is unclear how much they will be featured in the film, but if the latest news is any indication, there might be another Multiversal superhero team-up in store.

Illuminerdi reports that Gustin will have a cameo in The Flash. Details are slim regarding the capacity of Gustin's role and no other information was provided. Still, it's reported that Gustin will be playing his version of Barry Allen from the CW series.

Ezra Miller and Grant Gustin as The Flash on Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Gustin's appearance alongside Miller isn't unprecedented - the pair have appeared together on the CW before when Miller's version of Barry Allen appeared during the crossover event Crisis on Infinite Earths. Still, Gustin's appearance in a major DCEU film portends big things for the struggling franchise. It's already clear that, after the Snyder Cut, the DCEU is looking to the future and that involves various film projects as well as television shows and movies that will debut exclusively on HBO Max.

Whether or not Gustin's inclusion in The Flash is a sign that the Arrowverse could be incorporated into the DCEU remains unclear. It could be that Gustin's appearance will just serve to further solidify the existence of the Multiverse. Gustin's cameo will also give the DCEU plenty of options to explore if and when they do want to incorporate the Arrowverse into the franchise. Either way, though, this latest news will only further excitement for The Flash as the DCEU looks to compete with the MCU with a huge Multiverse story of its own and a roster of heroes both new and familiar.
