Ezra Miller's solo DC movie The Flash can bring back several characters from previous DC films thanks to the Flashpoint storyline and use of the multiverse. Warner Bros. and DC Films have been trying to get The Flash off the ground for years, but the movie is finally making progress. After watching several directors leave and the original 2018 release date pass, the film is slated to hit theaters in 2022 and be directed by Andy Muscietti from the IT franchise. All of these changes might lead to a very different Flash movie than what was initially planned, but the one constant has been the film adapting Flashpoint in some way.

The Flashpoint story sees Barry Allen go back in time to save his mom from dying, but it has a huge ripple effect on the world, creating an alternate past/present/future across the entire multiverse. This created the New 52 continuity in the comics, but The Flash appears ready to deal with the multiverse differently. It has been reported that Michael Keaton will return as Batman in the movie through the multiverse, as he'll play the same iteration from Tim Burton's Batman and Batman Returns. The movie's use of Keaton will put a new spin on the Flashpoint storyline, which normally features Thomas Wayne as Batman.

Although the circumstances of Keaton's return as Batman in The Flash aren't confirmed, the multiverse is sure to play a part. The film will keep Burton's films as canon but retcon the "continuation" of Batman Forever and Batman & Robin. Meanwhile, it is reported that Keaton will wear the Batman suit again in his upcoming appearance. Not only will this finally give fans a chance to see Keaton suit up as Batman one more time, but his return opens up multiple other opportunities.

There is a possibility that other characters from the main DCEU movies - like Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill's Superman, Jason Momoa's Aquaman, or Ray Fisher's Cyborg - could appear in The Flash, but none are confirmed so far. Various rumors have linked some of them to the project, but it won't be too surprising if some have roles. These appearances could help keep the DCEU connected, but there's also the possibility that characters from prior DC productions could appear in The Flash through the multiverse.

Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman

Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman in Batman Returns

When it was reported that Keaton is returning as Batman, it didn't take long for fans to begin wondering if someone from his franchise could also reprise their role: Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman. Pfeiffer played Selina Kyle in Batman Returns and turned in a scene-stealing performance in the process. She never returned to the role in any of the Keaton- and Burton-less sequels, but this could now be possible thanks to The Flash.

Not only would Pfeiffer returning as Catwoman in some capacity be a treat for fans, but there is already some set up for such a cameo to happen. During the Arrowverse's Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover, the shows referenced just about every DC movie and series of the past. This included a quick glimpse of Earth-89, which showed a newspaper that confirmed Keaton's Bruce Wayne married Pfeiffer's Selina Kyle. If that tidbit is considered canon for The Flash, then their marriage could be addressed. It might be unlikely that Pfeiffer would suit back up as Catwoman after all these years, but seeing her and Keaton on-screen again thirty years later would be special.

Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman

Lynda Carter Wonder Woman President

If The Flash can bring back Keaton as Batman, the movie should also consider having Lynda Carter return as Wonder Woman. She is an early icon for DC thanks to the three seasons of her Wonder Woman TV series that was a hit on television in the late 70s. Carter has recently returned to the world of DC by playing Olivia Marsdin, the former president of the United States and shape-shifting alien, in the Arrowverse. Still, The Flash could finally be the way she gets to play Diana one more time. It might not even be that difficult to find a role for her given Wonder Woman's role in the Flashpoint storyline.

In the comics, Wonder Woman is on the frontlines of an Amazon/Atlantis war. At one point during The Flash's development, it was reported that such a storyline could be in play with Gal Gadot returning, but it isn't known if that is still the plan. If the movie elected to bring Keaton back instead of using Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Thomas Wayne, perhaps a similar switch could happen to give Lynda Carter another run. There's no confirmation that The Flash is using this storyline, but a role for Carter's Wonder Woman could still be found potentially. And, if that means Carter and Keaton could share the screen, two anchors of DC's past interacting would be an exciting moment.

Keanu Reeves' Constantine

If The Flash wants to bring a more recent DC character back to the screen, the search could begin and end with Keanu Reeves' Constantine. He might not have a role to play in the comic version of the Flashpoint storyline, but that doesn't mean one can't be found. Reeves never had the chance to return as Constantine following his 2005 solo film, despite the movie's popularity and cult status continuing to grow. It's even possible that Reeves' return as Constantine in The Flash could set up a bigger future for the character. The movie will reportedly end in a way where Keaton's Batman can return for other movies, so the same could be true for Constantine. Reeves is a massive star and could lead another Constantine film afterward, or maybe even appear in the HBO Max Justice League Dark project.

Ryan Reynolds' Green Lantern

Green Lantern Movie

The Flash could also be a chance for Ryan Reynolds' Green Lantern to return. His 2011 Green Lantern movie was a financial and critical bomb, and Reynolds has not been shy about highlighting the issues with it since then - going as far as to have Deadpool travel through time and kill Ryan Reynolds before he could play the role at the end of Deadpool 2. But, despite the issues of Green Lantern, Reynolds was a decent Hal Jordan. The Flash is a great opportunity to give him a shot at redemption potentially. Hal's involvement in the Flashpoint story would likely need to change to make this happen - as he never becomes Green Lantern in this timeline and dies early on - unless the death of Hal is precisely what Reynolds would be up to play.

Grant Gustin's Flash

The Flash is also the perfect opportunity for DC movies to connect to the Arrowverse prominently by having Grant Gustin cameo as his Barry Allen from the CW show. Miller and Gustin's two versions of Flash have already shared the screen in the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover, with Miller filming a quick scene of the two speedsters meeting. If Barry's adventures in the movie crack the multiverse open, there's a chance for Gustin to make the jump to the big screen. The creative team behind The Flash has confirmed they knew about Miller's Arrowverse cameo and made sure it works within the film's story, so perhaps that is to ensure Gustin and Miller's reunion lines up with what has happened before.
