Michelle Pfeiffer says she would be game to reprise her role as Catwoman in The Flash if she were asked. Pfeiffer took on the role of Selina Kyle in 1992's Batman Returns opposite Michael Keaton and Danny DeVito. Her performance is widely seen as the definitive version of Selina Kyle, garnering critical acclaim and fan appreciation. A scene was even added to the end of Batman Returns two weeks before the film's premiere to indicate that her character had survived the film's events.

Pfeiffer also made a brief appearance via picture in the maligned Halle Berry Catwoman film. Critics universally panned that film, and a follow-up was nixed. Selina Kyle then appeared onscreen again in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises, where Anne Hathaway played her. Hathaway's performance was a step above Berry's but could not match the magic of Pfeiffer's original performance. Selina Kyle will appear onscreen in Matt Reeves' upcoming The Batman, slated for 2022, where Zoe Kravitz will play her.

Pfeiffer, though, would love to return to the role. While promoting her new film, French Exit, Pfeiffer told SR that she would be game to return as Catwoman if she was asked. The actress says no one has approached her to reprise the role, but it sounds like it would be an easy answer if they did.

I’m a huge comic book fan and it’s not lost on me the cat connection here. Michael Keaton will be reprising his role as Batman. Would you be interested in reprising your role as Catwoman?

Michelle Pfeiffer: I would if anyone asked me but no one's asked me yet.

Michelle Pfeiffer and Michael Keaton as Catwoman and Batman in Batman Returns

Keaton is reportedly set to reprise his role as Batman in The Flash, but how exactly he will appear is unclear. The Flash has faced a difficult road to production, but it seems to finally getting off the ground with director Andy Muschietti at the helm after the film cycled through several options. With Keaton returning, it looks like the DCEU is gearing up to introduce its version of the Multiverse, which could help reset the franchise's messy state.

It would also leave the door open for Pfeiffer's Selina Kyle to return opposite Keaton. It could also allow all the disparate films outside of the DCEU's main timeline to connect, bringing together all the disparate heroes for one big team-up. While that is likely a ways off, The Flash seems to be the starting point for this expansion, and fans would be delighted if Pfeiffer returned. Her Selina Kyle embodied everything fans love about the character, from her seductive nature to her iconic costume. Pfeiffer may be a little busy with her other superhero franchise, but it sounds like she would accept if asked to return, and The Flash would be the perfect movie to do that.
