Ben Affleck's comments about The Flash film highlight how the DCEU failed him. The actor is set to reprise his comic book role as the Caped Crusader in the upcoming Ezra Miller and director Andy Muschietti Warner Bros. movie. Not much is known regarding the extent of his involvement in its narrative, but Affleck recently revealed that The Flash has his best moments as Batman

Joining the DCEU as Bruce Wayne via 2016's Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Affleck's casting was initially met with backlash. Many fans believed that he couldn't do the role, especially since he followed Christian Bale's well-loved stint as the Caped Crusader. But director Zack Snyder was set on differentiating his iteration of the superhero by making him older and more hardened. Affleck defied all odds and proved critics wrong by delivering on that version of Batman. He reprised his role in David Ayer's Suicide Squad and Justice League. Most recently, he came back on set for additional work on Zack Snyder's Justice League.

While he's technically out of the DCEU, Affleck is still set on reprising his role as Batman in The Flash. Plot details are still scant at the moment, but the movie will have a multiversal narrative, with Michael Keaton also returning as Bat of Gotham from the Tim Burton films. Understandably, people involved in the project are tightlipped about it, but Affleck recently talked about his time working on the project. He didn't get into spoiler details but shared that it has some of his best and favorite moments while playing Batman. Regardless of what he's referring to, it shows how the DCEU failed him and his iteration of the DC superhero. The Caped Crusader headlined two high-profile films in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, and yet, Affleck gets his finest moment as the character in The Flash

Ben Affleck as Batman in Batman v Superman

This isn't a knock on the Miller-led film. If anything, it's one of the most interesting projects in DCEU's slate since it has the opportunity to significantly change the franchise's status. But, it doesn't change the fact that Batman is a supporting character in it. The film's focus will be on Barry Allen as travels through the multiverse. In addition to that, Affleck also has the share the superhero mantle with Keaton, whose return is one of the most anticipated elements of the blockbuster. So for Affleck to say that The Flash will have his best moments as Batman is quite disappointing. Whatever scenes he's referring to could only be a reminder of the massive potential of his Batman that will now remain unrealized.

It's uncertain what Affleck's Batman's fate will be beyond The Flash. Rampant theories claim that this is where the character will meet his end. Assuming that it's the case, at the very least, the actor had the chance to work on something DC-related that he fully enjoyed.
