The characters from The CW's hit superhero series Arrow and The Flash are teaming up again for a two-episode crossover event. As if they didn't have enough trouble with enemies like Zoom (Tony Todd) and Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough), heroes Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), and their respective teams, will now face off against Vandal Savage (Casper Crump). Since he's an immortal with generations of wreaking violent havoc under his belt, this will require every bit of strength and ingenuity the united groups can muster.
The crossover will also serve as another promotion for a third series in this universe, DC's Legends of Tomorrow. The spin-off features characters from both The Flash and Arrow, including Sara Lance/White Canary (Caity Lotz), Ray Palmer/Atom (Brandon Routh), and Dr. Martin Stein/Firestorm (Victor Garber). The new cast will also include Hawkman (Falk Hentschel) and Hawkgirl (Ciara Renée), whom we learn more about in the clip above.
We were first introduced to Kendra Saunders (Renée) as a barista at CC Jitters that Cisco (Carlos Valdes) had a crush on. When the two finally did get close for a date, Cisco's newly discovered power revealed a vision of Kendra in an elaborate winged costume and helmet. The clip from the crossover reveals that her Hawkgirl alter ego is so far as much a surprise to her as it was to Cisco.
The above clip features Hawkman in chains, trying to explain to his captors why Savage is so dangerous. He tells Kendra they are resurrected lovers, ancient royalty who have been murdered and resurrected 206 times, "and I'm not planning to make it 207." The worst part about being killed that many times by Savage is their immortal enemy grows stronger each time he takes them out. Cisco states the obvious to Hawkman: that maybe it's time to call his repeated strategy to outwit Savage a failure.
With so many connections between Arrow, The Flash, and the upcoming DC's Legends of Tomorrow, it's likely we'll see crossover events between these characters in the future. That may happen a lot more in 2017, if rumors are true that the spin-off may be too expensive to maintain for more than one year. It's hard to beat centuries of soulmate power, but Cisco might still have a shot if Hawkgirl returns to The Flash on a more permanent basis. If not, there's always his complicated flirtation with Lisa Snart (Peyton List), aka Golden Glider, which is probably a lot more fun of a scenario anyway.
The Flash episode, 'Legends of Today,' will air on The CW on Tuesday, December 1st at 8/7c. Arrow episode, 'Legends of Yesterday,' follows a day later on December 2nd at 8/7c. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow premieres on The CW on Thursday, January 21, 2016.
