CW's The Flash has added Kendrick Sampson (How to Get Away With Murder) as the metahuman Brainstorm. The show's fourth season so far has seen Team Flash take on a number of new metahumans, all part of a yet undisclosed plan organized by the season's big bad Clifford DeVoe aka The Thinker (Neil Sandilands). DeVoe has already proved himself to be a more cunning villain than the team has faced previously and as teased in the trailer for the midseason finale, "Don't Run", he is only getting started.

After the melodrama of season 3, The Flash is back to the fun, lighthearted tone that drew fans to it in the first place. They've introduced new characters such as the straight out of a pulp detective novel Ralph Dibny (Hartley Sawyer) as the Elongated Man and sci-fi darling Katee Sackhoff as the villous Amunet. And what could be happier than watching Barry finally tie the knot with his long time love interest Iris West (Candice Patton) during the Crisis on Earth-X crossover event?

According to Deadline, Sampson will be joining the show for a multi-episode arc as Dominic Lanse, a TSA agent who unwittingly turns into the metahuman Brainstorm. His powers include the ability to read the thoughts of others - something he doesn't always want. Could Dominic have been on the bus alongside the other metahumans and somehow fit into DeVoe's plan? Sampson will make his first appearance in the Winter finale on December 5th so only time will tell.

In the DC comics, Brainstorm has similar abilities to The Thinker. Originally named Axel Storm, he creates a helmet to help him absorb energy and create anything he could imagine in his mind. He stole the powers of the Justice League and redistributed them to ordinary people, he duplicated himself, and could make others think whatever he wanted them to. In the New 52 comics, the Dominic version of the character appeared as a Silicon Valley scientist who was trying to download intellect into machines, but accidentally transferred the thinking powers to himself instead.

While Brainstorm could be another dangerous foe for Barry to face, it appears Team Flash may be in luck. The first image of the character shows Dominic working alongside Cisco (Carlos Valdes), Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker), and the Elongated Man. If The Flash has his own super smart mind reader on his side, it may help him defeat The Thinker, who has so far outmaneuvered Barry at every turn.
