Warning: SPOILERS for The Flash #750

The historic arrival of The Flash #750 has been promised to pay tribute to Barry Allen's history, along with decades of Flash Family stories -- and getting an all-star team of writers and artists to make it happen. But it turns out Iris West will also be making some history in the special issue as well... and fans don't have to wait to witness her transformation into a new kind of Flash.

Like Wonder Woman #750 before it, fans can expect the 750th issue to collect several short stories, tributes, or homages all adding up to an 80-page prestige format issue. But as thrilling as it is to see generations and Multiverse variations of The Flash, it's the new look for Iris West that is going to be a talking point for fans (especially those who have dreamed of Iris becoming a certified speedster in The CW's TV show). Barry Allen may have been struck by lightning, making him a superhero overnight. But on another world -- now a part of official DC Comics canon -- it was Iris West who took that bolt, becoming her own brand of The Flash, the fastest woman alive.

The whole story cooked up by current Flash writer Joshua Williamson will be a must-read, along with the other work delivered by Geoff Johns, Marv Wolfman, Francis Manapul, Rafa Sandoval, Jordi Tarragona, Stephen Segovia, David Marquez, Bryan Hitch, Riley Rossmo, Scott Kolins, Michael Moreci, and more. But thanks to DC's official preview pages, readers can witness the discovery made by Barry Allen, once he allows his consciousness to wander through alternate realities, to see how the world would have changed if he didn't become The Flash. And he's as surprised to see Iris West take his role as the readers. Have a look at her Flash debut below:

The idea that Barry's bond with Iris would remain had their roles been reversed is a satisfying twist, while also revealing Barry would have ended up with Patty Spivot, in that case. It's hard to know if the rest of the issue will address this multiversal doppelganger, but either way, we're going to be appreciating Francis Manapul's look for Iris West AKA The Flash for a long time to come.
