On The Flash, Barry Allen has been having a really difficult year. After several months in Flashpoint, an alternate reality where his parents are still alive, he's been forced to deal with how his choice affected his friends. He almost lost his friendship with Cisco over the death of Cisco's brother Dante, first when Barry refused to time travel to save him and potentially change reality again, and a second time when Cisco learned that Dante's death was caused by Flashpoint. And Caitlin is now a metahuman, but using her powers risks turning her into her evil alter-ego Killer Frost. After months of struggling with the guilt over causing these events, Barry traveled to the future and saw Savitar murder Iris, the woman he loves.

So the second half of season 3 is focused on changing that future, to save Iris. By using a number of news headlines as a guide, Team Flash attempting to make small changes, in the hopes that every change affects the future. However, it looks like they are going to have to take a break from that mission, in order to help an old friend.

The CW has released the synopsis for the upcoming episode ‘Attack On Gorilla City’, which takes Team Flash back to Earth-2.

"When Jesse Quick (guest star Violett Beane) informs the team that her father (Tom Cavanagh) has been abducted, Barry (Grant Gustin), Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker), Cisco (Carlos Valdes) and Julian (Tom Felton) voyage to Earth-2 on a rescue mission to save Harry from Gorilla City. As they trek through the forest, Barry and the team are immediately captured and brought to Grodd (voiced by David Sobolov).

Grodd tells them he needs their help to stop Solovar (voiced by Keith David), the leader of Gorilla City, as Solovar wants to invade Earth-1. Meanwhile, back on Earth-1, Jesse and Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale) hit the streets to stop a metahuman that can control gravity, with H.R. and Joe (Jesse L. Martin) guiding them from S.T.A.R. Labs."

The Flash Gorilla Grodd Jungle

It looks like this will be the first time that Grodd will be an ally instead of a threat... unless it's a trick.. Previously the super-intelligent gorilla has used kidnapping and murder to achieve his objectives. This time, he wants to protect the world he came from, even though he no longer lives there. This will also be the first time in awhile that Harry and Jesse Quick are seen. It's always interesting to see Tom Cavanagh playing more than one character, so H.R. and Harry in the same episode promises to be a treat.

There is also a lot to catch Harry up on, he did not trust H.R. initially and his concerns were well founded, even though H.R. has solidified his role with the team. Harry was also suspicious of Caitlin using her powers, though how much he specifically knew is unclear. A big first for the episode is that this will be Julian's first time dealing with the multiverse. How he will react to the ability to travel through breaches, the differences on Earth-2, and the community of super-smart gorillas should be entertaining to say the least. The episode will also feature the reunion of Jesse Quick and Wally West, who have a romantic attraction that she decided not to act on due to them living on different worlds. Perhaps it is finally time for sparks to fly between the two.
