As bittersweet as Cisco Ramon's exit from The Flash season 7 was, Carlos Valdes' character got the perfect ending that did his Arrowverse journey justice. Whenever a show has been on the air for as long as The Flash has, it is only natural for original cast members to eventually wrap their runs and move on to new opportunities. After playing Cisco, a.k.a. Vibe, for seven years, this season became Valdes' final one as a series regular. Tom Cavanagh, who portrays Reverse-Flash and multiple versions of Harrison Wells, has also finished his time as a full-time cast member.

Originally, Tom Cavanagh was set to leave after the sixth season but got carried over to The Flash's latest season due to the pandemic. However, Valdes is set to appear in the two final installments of the season, including the 150th episode. But it didn't make Cisco's shared exit with his girlfriend Kamilla any less heartbreaking in the 12th episode, "Good-Bye Vibrations." While Cisco's time as a regular member of Team Flash has come to an end, however, the episode set him up for a significant new role within the overall Arrowverse.

As Cisco broke the news to Team Flash that he and Kamilla are leaving Central City, the nerdy engineer revealed he had accepted the position as A.R.G.U.S.'s new R&D director. "Family Matters, Part 1" had already foreshadowed that A.R.G.U.S. was Cisco's next destination, and in many ways, this was the right way to wrap up his Arrowverse story for now. Since The Flash began, Cisco has been one of the franchise's most gifted and creative characters. From every costume, gadget, and weapon he has created, Cisco has skills that the world could benefit from, not just Central City.

Not only does it allow Cisco to still have an important role in the Arrowverse, even if he's not on screen, but it lines up with something he opened up about on The Flash. After being hit by Psych, Cisco had to see his deepest fear where he was still at S.T.A.R. Labs 40 years from now. It revealed that what Cisco feared the most was everyone else moving on and growing except him. To see Cisco operate as an R&D director for something as massive as A.R.G.U.S. is a strong send-off and a big step forward in his personal career.

Even though it will be weird not having Cisco around on a regular basis, The Flash season 7 tackled an unresolved plot point for him. Luckily, it will still keep him within the Arrowverse because of how connected A.R.G.U.S. normally is to The Flash. After his final two appearances at the end of this Arrowverse season, it will be intriguing to see how The Flash season 8 feels and looks without Cisco Ramon.
