Despite a short tenure on the series, Eddie made a lasting impact in the closing episodes of the first season. After learning that he was a distant ancestor of the Reverse Flash, Eddie shot himself in the heart to keep him from ever being born. Cecile Horton was a later addition to the show's main cast, only appearing in a recurring role for the first few seasons. However, she quickly became integral to the series after she began a relationship with Barry's surrogate father Joe. Since then, she has manifested powers of her own and offered help to Flash when he needs it most.

In the Season 7 episode "Masquerade," it is revealed that Cecile did a stint in a psychiatric ward after suffering from a mental breakdown earlier in her life. After being trapped in a mind prison by one of Barry's foes, Cecile had to muster the courage to face her own demons and overcome her anxieties. Though this battle was not a physical fight, the battles within the mind often take the most bravery to overcome.

Henry Allen

Dr. Henry Allen was very much at the heart of the show's first two seasons. Played by former Flash actor himself John Wesley Shipp, Barry's father always had the exact right thing to say when his son faltered or needed counsel.

Despite not having any powers himself, Henry demonstrated remarkable courage in the face of hardships. Not only did he spend years in jail for a murder he did not commit, he was strong enough to tell Barry to give up his case and move on with his life. And, when an early violent death came for him, he stood firm, looking his beloved son in the eyes until the very end.

Cisco Ramon

Cisco Ramon enjoyed seven seasons of supporting the Flash, naming the bad guys of the week, and documenting the Flash's new villains post-Crisis. When he got powers of his own, Cisco jumped at the opportunity to become a superhero himself, adopting the moniker "Vibe."

Being a friend of the Flash almost always brings about great suffering. Over the course of his time on the show, Cisco was captured by villains who demanded he make them superweapons, mourned both Dante and Gypsy, and died himself in a parallel timeline. By the time he retired from the team and went to work for A.R.G.U.S., Cisco had certainly built up an impressive resume of courageous feats.

Nora West-Allen

Barry and Iris's daughter from the future dominated the Season 5 storyline as she helped her parents hunt down Cicada, the one villain her father never caught. As she went, Nora had to learn what it really means to be a hero, and came to a familiarity with her parents that she had never had before.

Nora inherited the bravery of both her parents. From her father she learned selflessness and heroism, and from her mother she learned about being able to accept others for who they are, which may be the scariest thing of all. In the end, Nora fades from reality as her timeline is erased, but even that she does with a smile on her face, knowing that she accomplished her mission.

Joe West

Captain Joe West is the surrogate father of Team Flash. Having raised two of its primary members, Joe always knows what fatherly advice he needs to give to motivate someone to continue their heroic journey.

Joe is frequently out of his league when the villains arrive to give Team Flash trouble. Even without powers, Joe is always prepared to help the team, his family, overcome their latest obstacle. He has stared death in the face on numerous occasions, and still soldiers on, acting as Team Flash's heartwarming anchor in times of crisis.

H.R. Wells

H.R. Wells was a somewhat controversial character in the third season of The Flash. Earth-19's version of Harrison Wells began his arc by lying to Team Flash about the extent of his intelligence, only for it to be revealed later that he was really more of an "idea man."

Despite a rocky beginning, H.R. began to find his niche within the group, learning to overcome his shortcomings and contribute whatever he could. In the end, he sacrifices himself to save Iris West's life, and dies in Barry's arms.

Iris West-Allen

Over the years, Iris has faced her fair share of harrowing situations. But it may be her confrontation with Savitar that cemented her bravery. When it came down to it, however, Iris was the one to kill Savitar, and save the world from his villainy.

Caitlin Snow

Dr. Caitlin Snow is S.T.A.R. Labs' resident bioengineer with a big heart. She has been by Barry's side as the Flash longer than anyone else, and despite briefly turning into Killer Frost, she never falters when it comes to helping her friends.

Besides Barry Allen, Caitlin may be the one to have been through the most pain in the show's early seasons. Not only did she lose her fiancé in the particle accelerator explosion, but when he returned and finally married her, he died once more only a few hours later--and all this was in the first two seasons of the show. Since then, Caitlin has remained firm, backing Barry's plays and always being there for the Team, no matter what pain is behind her smile.

Barry Allen

Barry Allen, a.k.a. The Flash, has had a long and elaborate arc on his show thus far. Beginning as a constantly tardy CSI in desperate need of therapy, Barry grew into one of the greatest heroes his world had ever seen. Even now, he serves as the head of the Arrowverse's version of the Justice League, providing his leadership skills to the greatest heroes in the world.

Barry Allen is the fastest man alive - most of the time. Despite his incredible abilities, Barry faces down speedsters and other villains on the regular that all have a reasonable chance of killing him. But no matter the danger, Barry has never backed down once, and is always ready to lay his life on the line to save others. Barry is the embodiment of a hero and the Paragon of Love, and will continue to inspire the inhabitants of the Arrowverse until his race is finished.
