Warning! Spoilers for Wonder Woman #214

The Flash has revealed that a villain famous for his involvement in Arrowverse can hit harder than Superman. The Reverse-Flash is more dangerous than fans once realized.

The Arrowverse has had a decent reputation for accurately representing the source material, down to the detail of characters’ power levels. Once, it was even referenced that Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman could be hurt by the Reverse-Flash AKA Eobard Thawne. This quick detail originates from the comics, as it had been previously established that those who get their powers from the Speed Force can seriously harm just about anyone who doesn’t share the source. Hunter Zolomon’s version of the Reverse-Flash reveals the extent of his powers in the crossover issue, Wonder Woman #214, written by Greg Rucka with pencils by Drew Johnson, inks by Ray Snyder, and colors by Tanya and Richard Horie.

After mentioning that she had once taken a punch from Hunter Zolomon, Wonder Woman said, “I’ve been punched by Superman. This hurts more. Being punched at the speed of light will do that.” This shouldn’t be a surprise to fans of the Arrowverse, as Zolomon AKA Zoom proved himself to be a real threat, even stronger than his predecessor Eoboard Thawne. In the past, the Speed Force has been known to enhance the strength of its users beyond the powers of Superman. Zolomon’s speed comes from his ability to travel through time, a unique power that isn’t common in the DC Universe.

While Wonder Woman and Hunter Zolomon fight through the city, their battle resembles Doomsday’s beatdown of Superman in the iconic Death of Superman storyline. Throwing each other across the world, Zolomon showcases what he’s truly capable of. Previously relegated to being a Flash rogue, the Arrowverse’s Zoom is shown able to take on the Justice League’s strongest members. It’s not a mystery why the Flash would enlist the help of his fellow Leaguers in his mission to stop the Reverse-Flash.

With Zolomon showing off what he can do, it’s questionable whether the Flash might actually be the League’s most powerful member. Not relying on brute strength, and without a vulnerability to any particular kind of meteorite, both Barry Allen and Wally West possess a power source that only a select few other people can access. As depicted in Wonder Woman #214, Diana is effortlessly taken down, as she attests that Zolomon could probably do the same to Superman.
