Killer Frost has been running free for a long time on The Flash, but she should probably be in jail for her crimes. After several seasons of establishing that Killer Frost and Caitlin Snow were two different personalities, the superhero series finally split them into two individuals. The icy woman was initially made out to be a villain in season 3, joining Savitar and aiding in the kidnapping and attempted murder of Iris West-Allen. While The Flash has attempted to redeem the character and turn her into more of an anti-hero and less of an antagonist, Killer Frost has gotten away with plenty of crimes with nary a single consequence for her actions.

In The Flash season 7’s fifth episode, called “Fear Me,” Kristen Kramer, a liaison with the governor’s Municipal Logistics Commission, visits Captain Joe West in a bid to find and punish Killer Frost for her past criminal activity. Killer Frost has not had the greatest track record. In fact, it was only in The Flash season 6 that she began learning what it even was to have feelings. In the past, she — and, by extension Caitlin, who was aware of Killer Frost’s actions and thoughts beginning in season 4 — has worked with villains like Amunet, trafficking humans and doing other illegal activity.

She’s tried to kill several members of Team Flash, on more than one occasion, including Barry and Iris, kidnapped Julian Albert and Cecile, sabotaged the team’s efforts to save others, stolen tech, and nearly got Cynthia Reynolds killed by Clifford DeVoe (aka, The Thinker) in season 4. There’s also the fact that Killer Frost has rarely, if ever, apologized for her actions or for the hurt she caused her current allies. While it’s unlikely Frost will go to jail permanently (though she technically could now that she and Caitlin have physically parted ways), Kristen’s attempts to bring her up on charges will at least address the fact that she was not always a decent person. She’s killed people and caused a lot of harm for several seasons, all of which went unchecked.

Yes, the word “killer” has been dropped from her name, with everyone primarily referring to her as Frost, but that doesn’t erase all that she’s done in the past, criminal acts that have not had any repercussions and would have surely landed others in jail. One can argue that most of the main characters on The Flash have done questionable things before, but they’ve, at the very least, been admonished for their actions before, whereas Frost has not. In this vein, it seems pretty hypocritical to avoid her past activity. Now that she’s her own person, Frost will have to own up to what she’s done and that’s a good thing. At the very least, The Flash could put her on trial.

Of course, Frost has been reformed since first being introduced. It’s taken a long time for her to become a decent person and she’s recently aided in some of The Flash’s fights to stop big bads like Bloodwork and Mirror Monarch. That said, it’s still a good idea to have a storyline where Frost is forced to face consequences for her past crimes. She’s gotten off pretty easy when comparing her history to that of other metahumans, who have been treated as criminals and imprisoned for far less egregious acts. Her criminal activity has also been dismissed far too many times to count, swept under the rug for no good reason other than to maintain her status on Team Flash. Introducing a storyline that could see Frost face punishment in The Flash season 7 is a good start if she truly wants to atone for her sins.
