The Flash and Arrow continue to be two of the most successful shows on The CW, so much so that another spin-off, Legends of Tomorrow, will soon join the DC TV universe in January and will feature a team-up of heroes and villains from both existing shows, as well as some newcomers. Last year we saw the first team-up of the Flash and the Arrow in a two-part crossover episode, an event that will continue this season.
We've already seen a trailer for the upcoming Flash/Arrow crossover that will set up the spin-off show, Legends of Tomorrow, but now we have an extended look that includes more details on Hawkgirl and her immortal nemesis, Vandal Savage.
The CW released this new extended trailer today, and it includes a much more detailed look at the winged superheroes and Legends of Tomorrow's villain. This crossover clearly establishes some of the characters and situations for Legends of Tomorrow, since we know that Hawkgirl (Ciara Renée) and Hawkman (Falk Hentschel) will play a large role in that show, and the primary villain will be Vandal Savage (Casper Crump). In this trailer we learn that Savage has a personal vendetta against the reincarnated Hawkgirl and Hawkman that dates back to Ancient Egyptian times. The crossover episodes are titled "Legends of Today" and "Legends of Yesterday" - an overt reference to the upcoming spinoff
In the comics, Vandal Savage is a prehistoric man who gained immortality through exposure to a radioactive meteor. He is a major Justice League villain, despite not being as flashy (no pun intended) as other villains like Brainiac or Darkseid. This trailer seems to confirm a similar backstory for Savage, and shows him apparently murdering a past incarnation of Hawkgirl.
Hawkgirl also gets the spotlight in the trailer, with a closer look at her reincarnated husband and her Egyptian outfit. We also see a strange meteor-like object approaching an Egyptian city in a flashback sequence. Perhaps that meteor will be the source of Vandal Savage's immortality? In addition to this and some extra dialogue expounding on the story, the extended trailer gives us some extra fight scenes, which look pretty amazing.
The Flash episode, “Legends of Today”, will air on The CW on Tuesday, December 1st. The Arrow episode, “Legends of Yesterday”, will air a day later, on December 2nd. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is expected to premiere on The CW in early 2016.
