An upcoming cover for The Flash shows that the Flash Family might not be prepared for the most devastating speedster threat. Daniel Bayliss' variant for The Flash #793 has several Flashes meet their match and suggests the most dangerous thing the heroes could encounter.

Whether it's Barry Allen, Wally West, or any other hero that picks up the mantle of the Flash, the speedsters have no short supply of villains aiming to do them harm. While super speed comes in handy taking on some of the more traditional villains, the various Flashes have enemies curtailed to their specific powers. The Flash's Rogues all have specific weaponry designed to inhibit his speed altogether. The Scarlet Speedster has also gone up against powerful psychics and mad geniuses who the Flash can't beat by speed alone. However, the hero always manages to use his powers to find a way to win against even the most trying of enemies.

That said, an upcoming variant hints at the true power of some of the speedster team's most malicious antagonists. Artist Daniel Bayliss has created a cover for The Flash #793, set for release in February of 2023. The cover shows several members of the Flash Family in the middle of a pretty intense fight. At the forefront, Wally West is about to go down hard after taking a crack on the jaw from his old enemy, Hunter Zolomon, aka Zoom. Behind them, Kid Flash Wallace West dodges a swipe from the ruthless speedster, Godspeed, and the battle between them appears to be pretty evenly matched. And in the background, the Golden Age Flash, Jay Garrick, shows the junior speedsters how it's done by getting a solid punch on his own dark reflection, the Rival.

The Flash Family Is Threatened By A Reverse-Flash Team

Flash 793 Bayliss Variant Cover DC Comics

The idea of an evil speedster team is something that Barry’s nemesis, the Reverse-Flash, attempted to create. And while he succeeded in making the Legion of Zoom, that team was less of a Reverse-Flash Family and more of a souped up version of the Rogues. The truth is that the evil speedsters faced by every Flash hero have such wildly different motivations, it’d be hard to get them all on the same page about anything. But as this cover shows, a united front for the wicked speedsters could be the ultimate anti-Flash force.

One unfortunate truth about the Flash legacy is that pretty much every Scarlet Speedster has twisted mirror antagonist. Barry has the Reverse-Flash and Bart Allen has Inertia on top of the speedsters featured on Bayliss’ cover. While they might not be able to overcome the Flash’s speed, they’re quick enough to make their rivals’ lives a living hell. By pooling their efforts, the evil speedsters could use the Flash Family’s greatest strength, their unity, for themselves and become the greatest challenge the heroes have ever faced. It might not happen for the villains anytime soon, but The Flash #793's cover makes a strong argument for a Reverse-Flash squad.
