There's currently a white screen error in Fortnite that is preventing players from logging in. Chapter 3 of Fortnite has been a big hit so far for returning and new players alike. With the constant addition of brand new locations to visit and new skins to unlock, players will likely spend a lot of time downloading game patches. It's fairly common for Fortnite patches to have unintentional bugs and issues. The white screen bug causes Fortnite to freeze on a white screen, offering players no way to progress.

Since the number of active Fortnite players fluctuates, it's possible for servers to be overloaded whenever there's a special event taking place or a new item released. For example, the addition of the Spider-Man Web-Shooters invited tons of players to return to the Battle Bus. Currently, new tornadoes and lightning storms have begun to appear around the map. It's likely many players may want to experience everything this weather phenomenon has to offer. Fortunately, there are a few ways to fix the Fortnite white screen issue and get back to the battlefield.

As a first step, Fortnite players can often eliminate the white screen error by restarting the game. Relaunching Fortnite should log the player directly into the lobby without any issues. However, if the white screen error still persists, the next best thing to do would be to delete and reinstall the game. This should only be done as a last resort since it's incredibly time-consuming to redownload Fortnite, regardless of platform. PC players can use their Task Manager to close every Fortnite file before uninstalling and reinstalling the game. The next time players launch Fortnite, it should act as intended.

Future Patches For The White Screen Error in Fortnite

Fortnite Bug

It's important to mention that Epic Games has acknowledged this issue in the past. In December 2021, one of the patches caused the white screen error for thousands of players. Epic Games did release a patch to fix this issue, but, if it's still reoccurring, another patch might be released to fix it again. Epic Games has a Twitter account dedicated to all Fortnite status updates. This is where players will find out about all future patches coming to the game.

With Season 1 of Fortnite Chapter 3 close to concluding, a new season will soon take its place. It's likely many fan-favorite items like the Web-Shooters will be removed from the game when the season is over. Most Fortnite Battle Pass content is locked exclusively to the Season. Once it expires, there's no chance to collect any of the rewards. Hopefully, Epic Games will extend Season 1 so players who were affected by Fortnite's white screen error can make up for the lost time.
