For some reason, this week has been filled with new photos from some highly anticipated movies: we've already had an amazing new Iron Man 2 image; our first image from Shrek Forever After; and a look at a toy figure of the new Freddy Krueger from the Nightmare on Elm Street remake.
To continue today's trend, some new images have been released for two comic book adaptations, the dark Western, Jonah Hex, and the Special Forces team movie, The Losers. Both are definitely on my most anticipated list, so it's nice to see some new pics from them - in fact, as far as we know they are the first official ones from each movie.
Jonah Hex is a dark and gritty Western comic book adaptation directed by Jimmy Hayward (Horton Hears a Who!) and starring Josh Brolin, Megan Fox and John Malkovich. It's based on a DC comic series by the same name about a horribly scarred antihero who's described as "a rough-and-tumble gunslinger and part-time bounty hunter whose adventures always ended in blood."
The first poster was revealed this summer at Comic-Con, and now we have what appears to be the first official non-poster image from the movie, courtesy of Omelete. As /Film's Brendon Connolly points out, it's maybe some sort of makeup/effects test, particularly because of the plain black background. Check it out for yourself and see what you think:
It's not exactly the best view of Brolin as the titular antihero (as you can see his hat shrewdly masks half his face), but it's certainly more than what we got with the teaser poster. I'm really liking the look of the No Country for Old Men star in this Western role - I wasn't entirely sure about him to begin with but he's crushed any doubts I may have had. Is that the case for you, too?
