The latest game reveal to come out of Guerrilla Collective 2021Firegirl, is an action platformer about fighting fires and saving lives through a procedurally generated city armed with nothing but a trusty axe and a fire hose. The development studio behind the game, Dejima, was founded at the release of the developer's first game Illumine, a minimalistic roguelike that's randomly generated by player actions in the world, while the game's Publisher Thunderful is known for publishing recent indie titles such as Say No! More, a stylized game about saying no in a world where saying yes is mandatory.

Action-platformer Firegirl is a self-proclaimed "hack 'n splash adventure" wherein the player takes on the role of a fire rescue officer who's trying to revitalize the local Firehouse while saving civilians from monsters made of fire. Each mission in the procedurally generated city gives Firegirl three minutes to save all of the civilians caught in the blaze, sending the player to frantically spray, chop, and scavenge around the environment. The spoils of each mission then go toward hiring staff, upgrading equipment, and paying bills while bringing life back to the Firehouse.

In a statement about the upcoming release, Dejima founder Julien Ribassin says, “We wanted to capture the sense of imminent danger that comes facing this natural disaster and translate it into a whimsical arcade adventure. Although the players will come face to face roaring blazes and fire-monsters, the goal is rescuing and helping survivors. Firegirl was designed with both newcomers and veterans to the genre of action platformers in mind, and we can’t wait for people to try it out for themselves when it launches this Fall.

Aside from its gameplay, Firegirl also features a stunning combination of 2D and 3D graphics, mixing the retro style of pixel graphics with modern 3D environments and rendering techniques. Overall, the game seems to be a very unique take on a subject that isn't widely adopted in video games, and an added roguelike element is always a nice touch. While there is currently no definitive release date for Firegirl, the title is slated for release in 2021 for PC and consoles.
