Adjutants are an important part of Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes as they provide a number of beneficial perks to the units they support during any mission. An Adjutant is when one of the playable units backs up another during a mission, providing a boost to the supported unit's stats, an increase in the support rating between the duo, and an opportunity to use powerful attacks alongside one another. Therefore, knowing how to assign and use an Adjutant is important for taking on different strongholds and bosses in any battle throughout Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes.

While some classes like the Bishop in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes are inherently great support units, any class can be assigned as an Adjutant during combat. Nonetheless, there is a major benefit to assigning Adjutants that help to counter the weaknesses of the units that they are assigned to. Additionally, this is a great method for leveling up under-leveled characters as the story continues, particularly if Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is being played on classic mode. Assigning a lower-level Adjutant to an over-leveled character, or vice versa, will help ensure that they simultaneously survive and become stronger. Any unit that falls in battle on the classic mode will be unplayable for the rest of the game.

To assign an Adjutant, one character must be next to another when players press L and X at the same time during a mission. For example, if Edelgard is next to Shez in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, then she will become their Adjutant when L and X are pressed. Alternatively, the map screen can be accessed to assign an Adjutant by selecting the desired character and assigning them to guard the other character, then pressing X and L once they are close by. Additionally, the same button input can be used to un-assign them from one another.

While an Adjutant is assigned, the aforementioned benefits will automatically take place, such as providing the stat boost. As any battle continues, the ability to use an Adjutant Follow-up attack will become available as well, allowing players to deliver more devasting blows. Similar to the attacks of all characters in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, these attacks will only be available once the Adjutant Guard or Follow-up icons are charged.

Additionally, Partner Attacks can also be used once the Warrior Gauge is filled. This will see both characters use their Warrior Attacks in succession to one another, resulting in massive damage dealt to all targets. To change characters and reverse the roles, press L and A at the same time in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes.
