Borderlands 3 has brought players back into the chaotic world of vault hunting. In a world where virtually everything is your enemy, it pays off to have some of the best weapons (and physical force) money can buy. Although players could spend eons working and grinding to defeat bosses and finding sweet weapon loot, players could also take an easier route and work to find Loot-o-Grams.

Loot-o-Grams are a new concept to the game and provides players with multiple chances to get new weapons from Crazy Earl. However, players will have to find a certain enemy and defeat them in order to get their hands on these sweet loots.

What is a Loot-o-Gram in Borderlands 3?

Borderlands 3 All Vault Hunters Gameplay

A Loot-o-Gram is a rare, tradeable item that looks like Eridium but is only used to exchange for weapons instead. These items look like purple boxes that glow golden (like a legendary weapon), but they say they can only be sold for a dollar. Players are able to carry more than one at a time, which is important to remember as well. These items can only be dropped by a Dinkle-Bot on Promethea.

If it is unclear by now, Borderlands 3 is poking a little bit of fun at Destiny with the introduction of the Dinkle-Bot. During the initial beta and launch of the first Destiny game, there was a small robotic companion called a Ghost that would guide players throughout the adventure. The bot was voiced by Peter Dinklage, and the reception of the voice actor was not positive. Eventually, the Ghost character was given the name Dinkle-Bot as his voice actor was replaced. Gearbox decided to hide a little Dinkle-Bot of their own, but this Dinkle-Bot will drop a Loot-o-Gram that players will be unable to find anywhere else.

Dinkle-Bot looks similar to the Ghost of Destiny and, during the Blood Harvest event, Dinkle-Bot will event emit a tiny ghost once it has been defeated. Even five years after the Destiny voice actor switch up, Gearbox hasn't forgotten this small, fun detail of the gaming world. And leave it to Gearbox to poke a little bit of fun at their expense.

How to get a Loot-o-Gram?

The sidequest, "Kill the Dinkle-Bot," will help guide vault hunters to where the Dinkle-Bot is hiding. When hunting for Dinkle-Bot, players will be instructed to head towards Promethea. While on Promethea, head to Skywell-27 and spawn to the fast travel point in the middle of the area. If you plan to harvest the Dinkle-Bot for more than one Loot-o-Gram, we would suggest players stop at the New-U station before starting. This will give players a chance to start at the New-U station after quitting out rather than having to run all the way back from the other side of the map. After stopping at the New-U station, head northeast on the map and move towards the dead end. The Dinkle-Bot will be in the trash beside a large truck at the end of the path.

It's worth mentioning that Dinkle-Bot is a rare spawn, so there's a chance he won't get up once players have arrived. If this is the case, simply quit out of the game and load back in. Once he's spawned, shoot him down for that sweet Loot-o-Gram. Once defeated, safe, quit out, and load back in. As previously mentioned, players can carry as many Loot-o-Grams as they want. Since players are already in the area, might as well make the most of it.

To defeat Dinkle-Bot, players will need to keep their wits about them. Dinkle-Bot drop Harbinger mines, but these can be easily destroyed. Be sure to take out the mine first. Dinkle-Bot will also deploy flying enemies during the fight. They can be dealt with fairly quickly by attacking their central weak spots or their fins. While the fighting is happening, Dinkle-Bot will be teleporting around the battlefield while sporting a fairly powerful shield that constantly regenerates. To ensure victory, be sure to bring electric or corrosive weapons.

It's also worth mentioning that, for lower-level players, Dinkle-Bot can be a little tough. Be sure to power up all of the character's shields and defenses before jumping in, otherwise, players could get wrecked. Worst-case scenario, level up a little bit by defeating nearby enemies.

What to do with the Loot-o-Gram?

Borderlands 3 Gaige

Once players have harvested as many Loot-o-Grams as their hearts desired, head back to Sanctuary and head on over to Crazy Earl's. His store is towards the bottom of the ship behind the locked door where players also trade Eridium. Crazy Earl will have a new option to trade the Loot-o-Grams in, and this option only appears when Loot-o-Grams are in the player's inventory. There is also the ability to trade in multiple at once.

For every Loot-o-Gram turned in, Crazy Earl will return the favor by giving the player one item in exchange. Unfortunately, everything from here on out with Loot-o-Grams is pure luck. Crazy Earl will hand out a lot of basic items but he has been known to give out legendary tier weapons and items on occasion. Good thing players harvested a whole bunch of Loot-o-Grams. The more Loot-o-Grams traded in, the higher the chances of getting a legendary-tier item.

The drop rate of legendary items from Loot-o-Grams isn't the greatest. The drop rate is about, for every 100 Loot-o-Grams turned in, players will get one legendary item. In addition to this, the legendary item that is most likely to pop up is Lucian's Call. Keep this in mind when trying to farm Loot-o-Grams. For some players, particularly newer players, this may not be worth the work. Farming bosses may be a better option because the drop rate is better and the XP rewarded makes it worth their time. However, that doesn't mean that this is not a great way to get some new legendary weapons.
