Ah, the American bison. Is there a more beautiful member of the bovine family? A more majestic grassland meander? A more even-toed ungulate? There are hundreds of animals in Red Dead Online, but few that are as bewitching to come across as these behemoths roaming the countryside. Whether players are searching for these gentle giants to research for the Naturalist role, or simply to slaughter and peel off their skin, it's a fantastic feeling to crest a gentle hill and come across a herd of these creatures.
But by the end of the 19th century (in real life), it was hard to find any bison in the wild, and they aren't exactly grazing around every grassy field in Red Dead Online either. Even rarer than any old buffalo is the Legendary Tatanka Bison. If pursuing the Naturalist role, this wonder with a white crown and white coloring across its back can be studied for Harriet or turned into outerwear by Gus. Whatever one chooses, players are going to have to find this rare fauna first.
The Legendary Tatanka Bison's location in Red Dead Online
The Legendary Tatanka Bison can be quite tricky to find, especially considering how finicky animal spawns can be in Red Dead Online. No matter what, though, players will have to first head to New Hanover. The Legendary Tatanka Bison can then be searched for specifically in the area between the Heartland Oil Fields and Heartland Overflow. This particular bison will mingle with other bison, so if a herd is found, check out all the possible animals for that signature white crown and coloring along the back. While pursuing the Legendary Tatanka Bison for the Naturalist role, a pawprint icon should appear on the player's mini-map once in the vicinity of the Legendary Tatanka Bison.
A Legendary Tatanka Bison spawning isn't guaranteed, although players are more likely to have it appear if both searching during the daytime and when it is raining. Good luck with that! Once it is found, this beautiful bison can be studied for research or plugged full of holes. Just keep in mind, the Legendary Tatanka Bison does sometimes charge the player and it is a bit tougher than the average buffalo. The Legendary Tatanka Bison will take a number of shots to slaughter, but it does not affect the pelt rating if the player is looking to turn its skin into some new threads.
