With Borderlands 3's newest even Revenge of the Cartels, players will be pushed to pursue and defeat Fish Slap. Fish Slap is a psycho boss within the event that will only spawn some of the time. Players may find it difficult to defeat him and have an even harder time completing the challenge called Never Slap a Slapper.

With this challenge, players will need to defeat Fish Slap exclusively with melee damage. This can be achieved but is a little more difficult than simply outright defeating him. We'll cover how to do both for players.

Slapping Fish Slap Back in Borderlands 3's Revenge of the Cartels

Fish Slap has two sets of health bars alongside his full shield. This paired with his special buffed grenades that deal exclusively melee damage can make him a devastating boss to handle. So players on their first run at defeating him will need to keep a good distance from him to avoid his fishy grenades. As long as players are able to do this they should be able to defeat him as easily as any other boss in the game.

To find him, kill as many Cartel members as possible or head to Joey Ultraviolet's Villa. Either one will work. Maurice will send players to hunt down Joey in his Villa after the player has collected all of the decoder rings. Fish Slap will spawn either in the main door or in the fight with Joey Ultraviolet.

However, to complete the Never Slap a Slapper challenge players will need to take a different approach. This should be done after defeating him in a more standard way as players will need his special grenades to defeat him with melee damage. These Legendary grenades look like little red fish when thrown. Named, Mass Accretion Fish Slap, these small rubberized fish will deal an incredible amount of damage and pull enemies towards them. Depending on the level, they may deal a specific number of damage, however, the damage will always be boosted by 15% for each enemy hit within its radius and heal the player's shields for 30% of the shield damage dealt. This little Fish Slap packs a serious punch, and even gains a 50% bonus of Radiation damage with weapons for 10 seconds after completing an Action Skill.

Once the player has Fish Slap's grenade mod, defeating him should be fairly easy. Just remember to turn off Mayhem Mode if the player is using it as this minimizes the amount of melee damage all attacks deal. To respawn him wait until Joey Ultraviolet is out of his immunity phase and fast travel to the beginning of the map. He may not spawn every time a player enters the arena so this step may need to be repeated a couple of times. Once respawned, unleash as many grenades on him as possible. Keep a shorter distance than before and try to throw grenades when he is closer to other enemies and after Action Skills to maximize the effectiveness of the grenades.
