Right at the beginning of the month, Shiny Lotad was added into Pokemon Go and its spawn rate was drastically increased. This means that players will have more chances to track the Pokemon down out in the wild. Players will be able to tell the difference between the standard and shiny versions of the Pokemon by Shiny Lotad's distinct coloring. Rather than the typical blue and green coloring, Shiny Lotad instead has a dark red body and a turquoise lily pad. This will make the Pokemon easier to spot among the other Lotads.
In order to track one down, players will need to be very persistent. Lotads do spawn more often during this event, but that doesn't mean that it will be easy. A way to boost the chances of running into one though is to go outside when it is raining. As a Water/Grass type Lotad will appear more often during rainy weather. This makes it a lot easier for players to grind through normal Lotads and find a shiny. Players can also search for Lotads during raid battles. Raids grant a higher chance of a Pokemon being shiny, so if players see one in a raid battle they can potentially snag one without having to grind through dozens of different standard versions first.
