While exploring the Wild West in Red Dead Redemption 2, players are likely to come across different animals native to the region to hunt for food, fun, and profit. Players can go fishing in the rivers and lakes around the map and catch a variety of creatures, including the Perch. The Perch is a small species of fish that can be found in some of the lakes, rivers, and ponds. There is also a Legendary variety of Perch that is slightly bigger than the typical catches. The Perch swims near the surface and will take a variety of baits.

Players typically won't find any materials, as the Perch is a little too small for that. However, they can make Flaky Fish in three varieties using the Perches they catch. Players will most often stumble upon the Perch while catching other fish in the same area. If they want to specifically work on catching a Perch, they can search some more specific lakes and ponds and make sure to have enough bait for the job. Here's how to find and catch the Perch in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Find the Perch in Red Dead Redemption 2

The Perch is typically located in the northern area of the map, particularly in the Ambarino territory and anywhere north of Valentine and Strawberry. Players tend to have good luck searching for it in Roanoke and Roanoke Ridge. They also have a good chance of finding one in Cattail Pond, where they may also come across some Bluegill. The Legendary Perch is typically found in the Elysian Pool.

Perches are most active during the day and when it's sunny, so players should concentrate on fishing in those areas in sunshine.

When trying to catch a Perch, players may want to make sure they have enough bait on hand. While the Perch will bite many different kinds of bait, they most frequently bite at Bread Bait. Players can randomly find and loot Bread Bait, or they can purchase it from a General Store for around $0.40 per lure.

If players want to go for the Legendary Perch, they will need the Special Lake Lure instead. This lure is expensive and can only be found at Lagras Tackle Shop. It costs $20.

Once players have baited the line, they will want to cast it into the water and wait to get a bite. Perches are known to fight back, so when the player gets one to take the bait and begins to reel it in, they will want to be careful while reeling it in. If the Perch is fighting, the best course of action is to stop reeling and to pull the rod in the opposite direction to avoid losing it.

Perch fish have some of the tastiest meat, so players will want to seek these out for food and survival.
