One Ghost-type pocket monster that many fans of the Pokémon franchise will easily recognize is Misdreavus, a nocturnal creature in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet that evolves into Mismagius once given an evolutionary item. According to lore, Misdreavus is quite mischievous in nature and is known to bite and pull people's hair without warning. Of course, this Screech Pokémon's misbehaving characteristic does not appear in Scarlet or Violet, but it does explain how Misdreavus can be tricky to find out in the wild. This small Ghost-type pocket monster inhabits multiple locations across Paldea, but encountering one can be tricky due to its abnormal spawn rate.

Misdreavus in Pokémon Violet can be found in Areas Three, Four, Five, and Six of the South Province, Area One and Three of the West Province, the western side of Glaseado Mountain, and the Tagtree Thicket. Such information might surprise some Trainers, as they might have explored a good majority of the world map only to realize they never encountered a Wild Misdreavus. This predicament can be solved by only searching in these zones after nightfall. As mentioned above, Misdreavus is a nocturnal pocket monster, meaning it only appears at nighttime in Paldea.

Finding Misdreavus in Pokémon Violet

Misdreavus Habitat Location in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

If Trainers are struggling to encounter Misdreavus during nighttime in Pokémon Violet, YouTuber Techno Trainer recommends that players search the areas nearby ponds of water. Misdreavus tends to spawn more frequently around these small bodies of water, such as the pond southwest of Cortondo in the South Province (Area Two).

Paldea is filled with small ponds that dot the terrain across the map; therefore, fans should consider visiting these pools at night to encounter Misdreavus. Keep in mind that days in Paldea follow an approximately 36-minute cycle that is not related to real-world hours like in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Additionally, Misdreavus can disappear and reappear at will as it wanders the nightscape of Paldea in Pokémon Violet. Not many pocket monsters have the ability to turn invisible, but players should not have to fret, as Misdreavus's invisibility only lasts for a few moments.

After catching this Ghost-type Pokémon, Trainers can evolve it into Mismagius by giving it a Dusk Stone, an evolutionary item that can be found in several spots across the region or purchased at the Auction Market in Porto Marinada. A Dusk Stone can also be earned as a guaranteed reward from Jacq for achieving 130 entries in the Paldean Dex in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
