Alpha Pokémon are one of the toughest challenges players can face in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and Alpha Snorlax can be particularly intimidating to stumble across thanks to its absolutely massive size. Like all Alpha Pokémon in Hisui, Alpha Snorlax is much more aggressive than other Pokémon of its species and will chase and attack the player if it sees them. However, despite its overwhelming strength and size, Alpha Snorlax can be caught like any other Pokémon, presenting players with the opportunity to add a powerful Alpha to their own Pokémon team.

There are about 20 Alpha Pokémon in each area of Hisui in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and, while some are more powerful than others, each one can pose a threat to players. The background music will change when Alphas are nearby, and players can typically spot them due to their size and glowing red eyes. Catching Alphas can be one of the most challenging parts of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, but they often have higher Effort Levels and are able to learn moves that others of their species can only learn from the Move Tutor, making them worth the extra effort it takes to catch them.

When trainers reach Sixth Star Rank in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, they’ll unlock the crafting recipe for Ultra Balls, which provide a much higher chance of catching Alpha Snorlax than regular PokéBalls or Great Balls. However, if players manage to sneak up on Alpha Snorlax without being spotted, Leaden Balls and Gigaton Balls can be just as effective. Catching Alpha Snorlax without battling is possible, but players should still have a good team of Pokémon ready if they hope have the best chance of surviving their encounter.

How To Catch Alpha Snorlax In Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Alpha Snorlax is aggressive in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

Alpha Snorlax can be found on the other side of the ridge surrounding Lake Verity in the Obsidian Fieldlands area of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and it usually wanders near the riverbank directly west of the lake’s center. Unfortunately, there isn’t much tall grass nearby for players to sneak through, so items like Smoke Bombs and Stealth Spray are vital for players hoping to avoid a battle. While hidden, players can lure Alpha Snorlax with its favorite foods, which include Dazzling Honey, Hearty Grains, and Plump Beans. Players will have the best chance of catching it if they manage to hit it with a Backstrike, but if it breaks free and spots them, they should be prepared to throw a Pokémon and battle.

Alpha Snorlax in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is a level 45 powerhouse that’s able to deal massive amounts of damage with moves like High Horsepower and Outrage, which can easily cause a Pokémon to faint in one hit. Pokémon Legends: Arceus players should bring Pokémon of at least level 50 or higher to avoid having their team swept. Fighting-Type moves will be super effective against Alpha Snorlax, so players should bring a few Fighting-Types with them as well. However, it’s worth noting that Alpha Snorlax’s Normal-Type makes it immune to Ghost-Type moves. Status conditions make Pokémon much easier to catch, so putting Alpha Snorlax to sleep, freezing it, or paralyzing it will help players capture it and avoid some battle damage in the meantime. Fortunately, Alpha Pokémon respawn after players return to Pokémon Legends: Arceus' Jubilife Village, so if the player defeats it or catches it, they’ll have another chance to catch Alpha Snorlax again in the same location.
