Also known as Daleth, fans of the game might recognize its brethren: the Anemo, Electro, and Geo Hypostasis who all preside over each respective element and utilize them in combat. They are all found in their own arena in Teyvat, can be battled multiple times, and drop important loot, such as character ascension materials, upon defeat. The Cryo Hypostasis is no different, so here’s where to locate the chilly entity and some strategies to defeat it.

The Cryo Hypostasis Boss Guide

Daleth Genshin Impact

Given this being’s command over ice, it’s only appropriate that it’s found in the equally chilling Dragonspine Mountain. It’s very easy to find, just like its brethren, its location is displayed on the map. Specifically, it’s in the western portion of Wyrmrest Valley in the circular arena. It’s not possible to warp directly there, but there is a teleporter waypoint just north of it. This area was originally used in the ice-thawing quest ‘In the Mountains’, which occurred when Dragonspine was first made accessible.

Before initiating the fight, make sure to activate the ruin brazier statues around the arena, as the frostbite chill is in effect here. Much like the other Hypostasis fights, this boss cannot be damaged in its default state. Players need to wait for an opening where its core is exposed, then whale away on it. For instance, it turns into a snowflake-like shape and charges toward the player for one of its attacks. While dodging, stay in the vicinity so when its attack ends, the player will have as much time as possible to damage it. This attack can hit multiple times before ending, so pay attention to where it is at all times. This is especially important to keep in mind while warming up around the ruin brazier; don’t stand still, or else the player will become a sitting duck for the Cryo Hypostasis. It’s best to prepare goulash and warming bottles beforehand so the player won’t have to rely on the ruin braziers as much.

Many of Daleth’s attacks are quick-ranged shots of ice, but they can be dodged easily provided the player does not stop moving. The boss is even vulnerable during some of these attacks, so watch for when the core is exposed, then go in and strike. However, cautious players will want to keep their distance from Daleth during these attacks, as there will be more time to dodge before the attack connects. But for risky players eager to gamble their odds, the closer one is to Daleth, the less time they’ll need to reach it when it’s exposed, and thus the more time they have to attack it.

For the finale, the Cryo Hypostasis will retreat into a cube form. This shield is incredibly difficult to crack, but the frostfruits it launches at the player, large, spiked balls of ice, can be knocked into it to break its shield. These frostfruits can only be launched with a charged attack, which is performed by holding down the left click on the PC version. However, it’s important to line up the shot correctly, otherwise, it will miss. After launching several into Daleth, it will be exposed for the finishing blow. Even if the player doesn’t manage to break its shield in time, its health will regenerate less each time, making it easier to defeat over time.

It should go without saying, but characters that have Pyro attacks all perform excellently against this icy boss. Diluc, Bennett, and Yanfei will all pull their weight, as well as Electro characters who can create the superconductivity elemental reaction. Additionally, any character with a quick charged attack will be able to knock the frostfruits into the final form more swiftly. This includes bow-users, who can safely attack the frostfruits from a distance the moment they land.
