It has dethroned Diamonds as the most durable material within the game. Crafting powerful tools and armor with Netherite is the best way to stay protected out in the world.

In order to craft Netherite tools, players will need to get their hands on some Ancient Debris. Ancient Debris is a scarce substance that is also new to the world after the Nether Update. Players have been clamoring to get as much of the stuff as possible. Here’s how to find Ancient Debris in Minecraft.

Minecraft Ancient Debris 2

Ancient Debris is similar to Coal in that it spawns in mineral veins in various places on the map. It can be rare depending on what area the player is in. Players will need to find plenty of Diamonds before they can start mining Ancient Debris. It is a deeply powerful substance that can’t be mined by any other tool. Just like Obsidian or Iron, if players try to mine Ancient Debris with the wrong tool, the block will break and will not be able to be gathered by the player.

Ancient Debris is used to craft Netherite Scraps. Players can place the Ancient Debris into a Furnace and smelt it into Netherite Scraps. These Netherite Scraps will need to be combined with Gold Ingots to craft Netherite Ingots. Netherite Ingots are the only thing that can be used to upgrade tools, weapons, and armor pieces into Netherite pieces.

Mining Ancient Debris in Minecraft

Minecraft Ancient Debris 1

Ancient Debris is found within the Nether. It is usually discovered below level 8. Players who are using the Bedrock edition of the game can enable “Show Coordinates” in the game’s settings to allow them to know exactly what level they are one.

Players should be careful when mining within the Nether. Not only is their a plethora of hostile mobs that do not go away in the day time, but there are also large chasms filled with Lava that are hard to predict. Players should be careful digging straight down for this reason.

There are no known biomes that contain more Ancient Debris than others so players can rest easy knowing that they don’t have to find some special location to begin their dig. Players will be given no indication that they are on the right track beyond knowing what level they are on. Just like digging for Diamonds, this can be an easy task or one that takes an unexpectedly long amount of time. Players should stay vigilant and keep digging. Eventually, they will be able to find the Ancient Debris they are looking for.
