It's been almost 16 months since we've heard anything new about the creepy sci-fi film Splice, but today we finally have something new for you. Some new images from the film have made their way online and we have a target release date for this Guillermo del Toro produced film.
We first brought this movie to your attention in November 2007 and it looked intriguing to say the least. Splice revolves around two geneticists (played by Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley) who decide to throw ethics out the window and experiment with splicing together the genes of a human with that of animals. They illegally create a hybrid and try to hide her from the world.
As you can no doubt guess, this probably doesn't end well.
We posted the first images from Splice back then (warning, some of those contain nudity and are NSFW), and today we have a new batch of images from the film courtesy of Bloody Disgusting:

The film is directed by Vincenzo Natali, who's other noteworthy accomplishment was the most excellent 1997 sci-fi horror film Cube, and of course I don't need to fill you in on Guillermo del Toro's background in creating films with fantastic and surreal creatures. This is one film that I'm looking forward to.
Right now Splice tentatively scheduled to open on September 18, 2009.
