Final Fantasy XIV's roguelite Deep Dungeons are coming back at some point in the future. Developer and publisher Square Enix's hit video game recently released Endwalker - a massive expansion that included new dungeons and new job details. Since the expansion's release in December of last year, there have been several patch updates that have helped improve player experiences. Now, it has been said that soon there will be an update to bring back FFXIV's Deep Dungeons.

Deep Dungeons were a popular feature of Final Fantasy XIV that offered players of the MMORPG challenging content. Unlike typical dungeons, Deep Dungeons offered a roguelite experience where players were tasked with progressing through multi-floor challenges. These dungeons were especially difficult because the floors and rooms were randomly generated each time players reentered the Deep Dungeon. Even though players could continue from the last spot in the dungeon they made it to, getting to the final floor was a real challenge. The rewards of completing a Final Fantasy XIV Deep Dungeon like Palace of the Dead, for example, make the arduous quest worth it. FFXIV's Deep Dungeons also offer unique rewards like exclusive weapons and Glamor armor pieces that are separate from rewards in the main game.

As reported by PC Gamer, the roguelite Deep Dungeons will be making their way back to Final Fantasy XIV in a future update to the game. In an interview at the Korean Final Fantasy Festival, game director Naoki Yoshida said that he had heard that many Final Fantasy XIV fans around the world were requesting to bring back the Deep Dungeons. Yoshida has now confirmed that because of this, more Deep Dungeons will appear as part of FFXIV's 6.X series of patches, expected to start in March or April with patch 6.1.

The last Deep Dungeons that came to Final Fantasy XIV were with the Stormblood expansion in 2018. Though the Final Fantasy XIV patches offer buffs and new content for players to experience, Deep Dungeons disappeared over time. This was unfortunately the case with the popular Deep Dungeons Heaven-on-High and Palace of the Dead. Yoshida's comments prove that Square Enix is aware of what its fans are requesting and is trying to deliver on what the fans want.

Interested players should be looking forward to February 18th, the date of Naoki Yoshida's next message to the Final Fantasy XIV community, for more information. Square Enix is constantly adding new content in one form or another to FFXIV, and it's great news for both new and returning players that Final Fantasy XIV fans will have new Deep Dungeons to look forward to experiencing.
