Dynamis Crystals are a high-end level 90 crafting item in Final Fantasy XIV, and can be found in the final Endwalker zone of Ultima Thule. However, there are more options for those who send their Retainers on ventures or battle in many FATEs.

With Dynamis Crystals, level 90 crafters can make all sorts of powerful gear sets in Final Fantasy XIV. While some merchants sell the normal quality versions of these items, only those players who search for them have a shot at making high-quality versions. These still have lower base stats than equipment gained with Purple Scrips, but can be overmelded with extra material in FFXIV to make up the difference.

While obtaining Dynamis Crystals themselves can only be done within FFXIV: Endwalker, players can start gathering up the secondary currency at the start of Shadowbringers. This allows level 70 characters to start earning much earlier on via FATEs. Those that save on Bicolor Gemstones will easily be able to purchase Dynamis Crystals once hitting level 90.

Stellar Dragons in Final Fantasy 14

Dynamis Crystals can be collected by slaying Stellar Shelled Dragons, a level 89 enemy that wonders around Ostrakon Deka-okto region of the last Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker zone Ultima Thule. Battle Retainers can also possibly obtain the item from two venture types. The first is the one-hour-long Field Exploration XXVII at level 85, the other is a Hunting Exploration at level 89 specifically for Dynamis Crystals, but requires an average item level of 528.

While the former can be done earlier, the loot pool is very large and can make it hard to gain just Dyanmis Crystals. Players will also need to have spare gear for the particular Retainer’s job. Item level 528 can easily be achieved with Augmented Cryptlurker attire.

Shared FATEs

A more reliable option to gain Dynamis Crystals is to buy them with Bicolor Gemstones. These are earned by completing FATEs in any Final Fantasy XIV Shadowbringers or Endwalker zones. This includes the following locations:

  • Lakeland
  • Amh Araeng
  • Il Mheg
  • Kholusia
  • The Rak’tika Greatwood
  • The Tempest
  • Labyrinthos
  • Thavnair
  • Garlemald
  • Mare Lamentorrum
  • Elpis
  • Ultima Thule

Once obtained, Bicolor Gemstones can be exchanged by N-1499 at Base Omicron in Ultima Thule, Gadfrid at The Agora in Old Sharlayan, or Sajareen at West Balshahn Bazaar in Radz-at-Han. The rate is two Bicolor Gemstones for one Dynamis Crystal.

With Dynamis Crystals, crafters can create among the current strongest tools and armor for both gatherers and other aspiring crafters in Final Fantasy XIV. Because of the Quality and Craftmanship stats needed to make such items, especially for the High-Quality versions, one may need to either buy a few of the finished goods from others to kick start their own; or have even better items by spending Purple Crafter’s Scrips.

Because Dynamis Crystals are mainly for crafters in FFXIV, anyone not level 90 yet should consider selling their collection on the market boards. Although, players who eventually want to craft for profit, or make their own equipment, should consider holding on to them. While the above list is the current use for Dynamis Crystals, they may still be used for other stronger items released in future patches.
