Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children is getting the 4K treatment. Final Fantasy 7 has been a popular subject recently thanks to the critically acclaimed remake. An upgraded version called Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is coming to PS5 in June.

Out of the 15 main Final Fantasy games, the one that left the most impact on popular culture is easily 1997's Final Fantasy 7. The original game follows Cloud, a mercenary working with an Eco-terrorist group called AVALANCHE. The group seeks to destroy the Shinra corporation, which is draining the planet's life force. Of course, the biggest story aspect players enjoy is the conflict between Cloud and Sephiroth, which comes to a grand conclusion in the climax. Final Fantasy 7 has inspired a number of other works, including spinoff games and books. Perhaps the biggest extension of the original story is Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children, an animated sequel film released in 2005. Boasting impressive CG and slick action, Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children is a must-see for fans of the game.

Soon, those wanting to relive the team's showdown against Bahamut SIN in Ultra-HD will be able to do so. Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children will be released in 4K (via Amazon) on June 8. Priced at $30.99, this version looks to have the same content as the Complete Blu-ray, but of course the film will be remastered in 4K. With already great-looking CG, the film should look outstanding on 4K.

Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children is coming to 4K

Something to remember is Advent Children was released as a sequel to the original Final Fantasy 7. Those who only played the remake will probably be confused by the story, as it takes place after the events of the 1997 title. Still, the film is a good time regardless, especially for the stylistic action. Seeing Cloud and Sephiroth battle in high-end CG alongside a rendition of "One-Winged Angel" can only be described as epic.

Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children takes place two years after the events of the original game. In the story, remnants of Sephiroth seek to revive the villain. As the story progresses, Cloud reunites with old friends. As a whole, the film serves as a nice sendoff for the original game's storyline. Cloud is given one last fight against his greatest enemy. In the end, Cloud acknowledges he isn't alone out there, which is a great cap to his development. If anyone has played Final Fantasy 7 but hasn't seen Advent Children, pre-ordering the 4K might not be a bad idea.
